iPhone 6, dead gyro?

Got a problem with my 1+ year old iPhone6.

It keeps wanting to go into landscape mode. I noticed that the compass (NS portion only) is stuck and doesn't rotate. The level crosshairs still move around.

In addition, when I type the "Undo Typing" pops up off and on.

All these seem to point to a busted gyro. Any suggestions on how to resolve this? Or is it back to the shop for repair?

Try doing a reset all settings.
Settings -> General -> Reset -> Reset All Settings.

First of all I'd recommend a restart with the Home + Power button method. If that doesn't help, I'd suggest a complete restore of iOS.

If you prefer to not restore or repair, you can actually turn off the "Shake to Undo" under the Accessibility settings and turn on Lock Orientation. That's what I'd do if my gyro/accelerometer screws up.

Haven't done the full restore yet but thus far, that's how I been living. Quite annoying to be honest

Finally did a full reset. Confirm it is a hardware failure.

Guess have to find the time to get the phone fixed.

Ouch. QCD says it can't be fixed and only offers me a replacement set for $580

You can try the 3rd party shops but I doubt if they would have the expertise & spare parts to repair complex hardware problems such as this.

Did u dropped your phone prior to this or it just becomes cranky out of a sudden?

Yeah they can't do it. Requires full replacement of the logic board

Actually I have lost count the number of times I have dropped my phone. The Air Jacket does a pretty good job in preventing serious damage.

Yeah going to survive on that until iPhone 7 comes out. Typing in Facebook app unfortunately is quite unusable. The app keeps prompting to undo despite having the shake to undo disabled
