anyway i did a test recently and found out that despite what everyone has been saying, activate find my phone mode, trigger or whatever. There are ways can still flash the phone to original factory settings and use it.

i did that on my iphone 5. Alarm did not trigger or anything.

Do all necessary clearing without connecting to the internet.

was testing ways out due to a friend who lost a iphone 5s recently. Realise actually its not really fool-proof

technically you can't.
you could do it because your iPhone trusted your computer's iTunes.
if you take a freshly restored iPhone and attempt a reset all settings and have a passcode lock. there's no way you can establish a connection with the iPhone unless you unlock it.

Technically you actually can. But setting the iPhone into DFU mode and then restoring the iPhone to factory settings. Not sure if Activation Lock will kick in after that.

you guys are right/wrong. Sorry but i'm a newbie at this too. What i did was reading up tons of forums/threads etc and tried different softwares/ways and i did it.

Btw, i restore the entire phone on my laptop which was nvr use with this phone before so laptop reads it as a new phone so the "trusting" is out.

the start off method is correct by putting in DFU mode. You can then "force" it to restore which will give you errors upon trying to do so. From there, you take other steps to "refresh" the OS and finally putting it into recovery mode and restore to the latest firmware.

That is how i did it.

Thanks petpet for the reply. So essentially, if we locked our phone, and do all the necessary security like turning on find my iPhone etc, we don't have to worry if we lose our phone bcos lets just say, the phone can't be used or resell. Am I right? At most they just sell for parts

pls also state ur ios version and the device.

because OP is only talking abt the iPhone 6 and iOS 8. If it's not the same - it's IRRELEVANT.

The Touch ID and logic board needs to be the same pair in order for it to work.
So don't worry, as long as you had a strong iPhone password, was signed into iCloud and had Find my iPhone enabled, your contents are safe.

I had everything in placed. Just that itchy hand, go n change my Apple ID password. But one bro has assured that even if password is changed, find my iPhone should still work. So yea, I have no hope of getting the phone back. More often than not, it's the data inside that we are heart pain, not so much of the phone.

You can turn on 2 factor authentication also. That way even if they guess the password, still need to verify with iCloud.

I highly advise all Apple product users to turn on 2 factor auth ASAP.

Hi experts
My bro lost his iphone on Saturday morning , till now it's still ringing , but he forgot this Apple ID password to access find my iphone. Apple can only reset the password in a few days but the phone is still ringing , by then Apple get back to me the battery will be dead.
Anyone has advice on this ... desperately need help
