My father’s iphone 6S’s battery was swapped for free some time ago when apple had that offer. Of late he’s been complaining the battery is depleted v quickly again.

He’s on iOS 13.5.1 & battery life is 90%. I checked his app utilisation & Whatsapp was an insane 52%!! Dunno why but after backing up his msgs i reinstalled & now it seems more normal at 36%.

Bluetooth, background app refresh, air drop, hand off, raise to wake & fitness tracking all off. Auto lock 2 mins. Location service off except for those few apps that really need.

I even went into system services & turned off location based ads, suggestions & alerts, mobile network search, motion calibration & distance, networking & wireless, & time zone

Share my location is on lah for safety reasons plus his Find My is on. Due to bad eye sight his screen is set to max brightness. These all boh piah lah.

Would a complete reformat of the entire phone help? Or did i miss any settings to turn off? I am not keen to replace his battery for $75 cos the phone is quite old & TBH who knows may uplorry anytime & if it does then $75 wasted.

Unless you change to a 11pro max for him, there is nothing much you can do for his 6S since you have disable so much option off.

Another option is change to a android phone for him.

From my own experience android battery life is worse. I have the habit of swiping away all apps from background but he doesn’t.

Sometimes tons of apps in background. Will this affect battery life?

I feel Apple is still doing it on purpose to get you to upgrade your phone.

Even if it is not exactly on purpose, the constant upgrading of iOS requires more battery juice. I try not to upgrade iOS anymore on older models, but if don't upgrade iOS, some apps like SingPass cannot work either.

My father is also on 6s. Still contemplating if I should spend $$ for SE.

Can setup don't keep activities in the background in developer options
Samsung s10 lite has very good battery life. I used to have 8-10 hrs sot
Mi 9T pro has 10 hrs sot as well
If u don't want spend alot
Samsung A51 has good battery life too
The newly released mi note 10 lite has 5120 mah battery. That's a iphone pro max level battery life

iOS background apps r suspended so there’s no need to kill apps (unless it’s running rogue n draining batt)

My take is that the iOS is too much for the phone to handle. I would've not updated it beyond two iOS releases.
