basically i'm facing a dilemma right now. should i go for the iphone 7 that should be released this september, or should i get the new macbook air/pros that should also be released alongside the iphone?

thing is, i need both a new laptop and a new phone. i understand that iphone 7 this year won't be so much hype since more groundbreaking features are gonna be released only in 2017 since it is the 10th year anniversary (?). then again, i'm stuck with a 5s and the need to upgrade is stronger than ever. << this here is the biggest trouble in my decision-making right now.

other hand, my laptop is still manageable but i do want a new mac. been using windows for the longest period of time. but the need for it is not as strong as a new phone.

note: i can afford both, but i do want to save. i don't wanna buy the 7, then upgrade to the 7s or 8 in 2017. not the one year one iphone guy

what would u do if u were in my position? thanks!

like comparing apple and orange.

If it was me I would get the phone since the need to change is higher.

Phone. More useful. Laptop isn't important.

Throw a coin...

If head = iPhone
If tail = macbook

In the event of the coin landing on the edge refusing to drop, get both.

why not plan when they announce the new models? Now u are planning based on assumptions. It is good to plan in advance but things may change drastically.

If you have the urge to upgrade, why not get a iphone 6 first? Maybe a 2nd hand will do.

Why you can buy both than you don't buy? But I think get ip7 more realistic. Cause ip7 of course latest model will boast better functions and hardware. than from there you can adjust yourself to apple mentality.. than slowly buy macbook.

Lol wtf, where did you heard about 10 years anniversary got special function? The phone will have what? Can call outer space ah

Sent from a very concerned member of EDMW whom is using GAGT

It's a need or a want? Sounds like luxury wants to me.

Sounds like your Windows based laptop is fine- have you actually figured out why you want a Macbook? And of all the Macbooks, you're getting one known to be quite 'restrictive' vs other models (which might be an eye opener coming from the flexibility of a Windows laptop). I also wonder if you've thought about all the other subsequent 'costs' which it will involve in your life both financially and out of inconvenience. Note I use both Windows and Mac and whilst I love using Mac for it's simplicity and general 'nice to use' feel, and my new Windows machines crash for random reasons (e.g. Windows 8 display driver issue in Windows 10? wtf?), the Windows machines are far more flexible if you want to upgrade later or game. Surfing the web on Chrome/Edge doesn't feel as nice as it did on Safari though with my glass trackpad (but again that depends on device as well).

Whereas it sounds like your iPhone 5S is on it's last leg and hence you actually do need to upgrade it. IMO it's also alot easier to sell used Apple devices and get a decent resale value (vs Windows devices unless it's like a Surface Pro or something).

But if you have a burning need to spend on stuff then sure, why not, get both.

buy none if ur current phone/laptop is in working condition. save it for raining days. electronic products have no resell value.

I disagree- there is some resale value but it assumes you got to enjoy it for at least some time. I've found Apple stuff maintains resale value incredibly well for the age in some cases (e.g. >3 year old devices).

I don't understand your NEED to upgrade to iPhone 7. Is it a real need because your 5s is faulty, or is it just an URGE to get the latest iPhone?

if ur laptop is not working, get a mac.

if ur phone is not working, get a 7.

though u can afford both, its good that u want to save.

those $$$ u save can also be used for donation. :)
