Checking if anyone in SG has had luck with Apple repairing said widely known issue FOC after July 2018
son’s set now has this issue ...

actually am quite surprised a search on
HWZ yield no hit !

I had the same problem recently. It just happened out of no where, making my iphone 7 plus mic disabled and no audio device found. I brought it down to QCD and they told me that there is no fix for this and the only way is to replace it.

From what I found online, there is an audio ic chip that can be replaced by ourselves if we want to DIY.

i suspect they simply trying to act blur

i’d love to hear Apple SG itself saying the same thing

Q now is whether to bring it to Apple, or Red White Mobile for repairs ... the phone is after all way out of warranty coverage and makes no sense paying over the odds for repairs which i feel Apple has a responsibility to getting it fixed
it is not user caused issue, but hardware failure (not any random hw issue too)

for what it’s worth, there is a somewhat troublesome workaround for you ...
use Bluetooth connectivity
only problem is you gonna have to call back an incoming call ... that’s the only way u can be heard by other person
suffice to say, outgoing calls have no issues via your bluetooth headset

the “no fix” excuse is to get you to purchase a replacement set
the same approach was reported in the US

i’m trying to ascertain if the issue here is widespread enough to have them (Apple SG) extend the policy of us paying for the repairs first, then a possible refund when there are multiple cases of the said model with the same issue being brought in for repairs
problem is, SG population nowhere as big as US ... and reckon not many iphone 7 / Plus users left ?

i encountered the issue for 2 iphone 7 with similar symptoms.

apple SG orchard said it is hardware issue and need to replace both and each cost $468.

Customer service agreed with apple sg retail it is a hardware fault, it is more like a firmware update that caused the issue.

noted out there on class action against: Filed with the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, the complaint mirrors a nearly identical lawsuit lodged in Illinois last week that claims Apple attempted to conceal an iPhone 7 and 7 Plus defect that could in some cases cause problems with device audio features.

- poor QA and quality, failed less than 3 years.
- firmware update and failed the hardware and we need to pay for replacement.

no guarantee the replacement do not have the issue.

That’s why I don’t like to update latest firmware on older decides.

Both my iPhone 7 and 7 Plus is still at iOS 10.4.1
