iPhone backup/sync items on new computer (itunes is clean)

eh guys . .maybe a stupid question but I need help.. I have changed com.. so very long time never do sync..

on new com, I know I can do normal backup but how do I do it for the below and to sync all my items from my phone back to an empty iTunes?

1. contacts
2. apps
3. ibooks
4. tones

please help!

you can only sync from iTunes -> iPhone and not the other way around.

and when I got my new phone, restore from backup and. . I have to redownload my apps manually?

what about my contacts? how can I back it up on my pc

are your contacts synced with Google or iCloud? If they are, you don't really have to back it up on your PC.

Those apps and photos on your phone are usually backed up when you manually trigger it, and it'll be restored to its backed up state when you do a restore. The main items that will be missing are usually your Music, Movie, Ringtone, Books, etc.. Unless you only have one PC to sync to, it's usually a better idea to check the box to manage Music/Videos etc yourself.

the problem is I changed a new pc liao . . my iTunes is empty . . so means to say everything have to restart or redownload?

If you got no backup to restore to, you gotta start everything from fresh, unless you have backed up everything to iCloud Backup, which you'll be able to have a true carbon copy of everything including music and video if you do a restore from iCloud.

ok thanks .. saw my contacts .. so that means when I use my new phone. . I just on contacts in icloud should be merge to my new phone again?

weird .. my notes is empty.. ->managed to move it to icloud manually.

yep, just make sure your iCloud contact is turned on on the new phone. There's a possibility that your notes are synced to your other emails, you can turn them on in your Mail settings to be sure

yea if you didn't restore from iTunes or iCloud, you'll have to redownload them and start afresh with the apps..

ok . . thanks very much man . . long time nv use to sync zz cos tmorrow trading in phone . . so do not want to have anything missing . . so the only thing I can do now is backup via iTunes and the apps have to redownload

The best option is actually to do backup to iCloud then restore, but that really depends on how big your photo library is. If you can do iCloud restore, EVERYTHING will be exactly the same after you restore, even music, ringtones, etc.

For me, my photo library is too large so I don't use iCloud backup, plus there's too many devices sharing one iCloud account so it's a pain to wanna squeeze them into the free 5GB space.

I've tried restoring from iCloud before and it was a breeze, provided you have a fast internet and enough storage space in your iCloud to backup everything. Would totally recommend it if you can do that.

you could manually back up your photos on your phone, turn off Photos from being included in your iCloud backup and see if that works for you.

The only downside would that the photo library on your new iPhone would be empty, but you save the hassle of resyncing every other bit of your phone
