Hi All,

Long story short.

I replaced my Iphone 13 Pro max battery last year at an Independent Repair Provider..

can I check with you all whether anyone has encountered that they never replaced the water resistant/proof seal, the one between the gap around the case and screen.

Seal plastic in blue in color as i saw it on some random videos over youtube etc.

Is it normal to be doing that?

It should be part of protocol if you go Apple authorised service provider (though should generally just go Apple Store)

what issue are you facing?

It should be the same as what Apple Servicing provides.
i.e. no slip shoddy work.

Issue was the seal not being replaced which i observed then, was thinking its normal...

Only until recently that saw a youtube video whereby the installer of the battery will replace it with a new one.

hence asking here whether anyone has similar experience etc

How could you determine that the waterproof seal wasn’t replaced? Is it visually observable?

i was the only customer when the shop replacing the battery. it's just open the phone via the screen, take out the battery and replace it. close up the screen...

I thought thats the norm until i saw random videos showing how they replace battery etc

the seal needs to be replaced as it is not reusable item. and this is siong part since need to remove all the double sided tape and not leave any residue behind. applying the sealing tape also need to be careful to ensure it sits properly.

been there and done that.

i suggest u contact apple support and bring down ur phone to apple store for them to access the repair. if the store people reuse the original seal, the display very easily to remove using the suction cup vs heating up + suction cup + prying tool

this one die die need to bang table one. plus if this is apple authorised service center, need to let apple know if those people are not doing proper job.

more importantly is to ensure ur phone is sealed properly for the ingress protection

Eh which apple authorised service provider you go to that does the replacement in full view of you?

If is indeed authorised service provider, then Apple will honour it.

Ya man… but one thing to add on bringing it back to Apple to replace, you won’t see what’s being done to your phone, got to trust Apple on it

It’s fine not to name, I’m more inclined to seek advice on what’s the norm…

have WhatsApp their page instead and they asked me to go down to their shop to have them check

if you don't wish to name them is ok.

but given that you are alleging that an apple authorised service provider did not follow protocol,

can you at least confirm it's 1 of these 4?
  1. Apple Store (Marina Bay Sands / Orchard / Jewel)
  2. A.Lab
  3. ISTUDIO
  4. QCD
If it isn't, might be better that you withdraw your allegation that it is Apple Service Provider.

because if your intention to not name them is because you don't want to get into trouble, then alleging that an Apple Authorised Service Provider did not follow protocol, when they aren't is also something that can potentially get you into trouble.

So can you please confirm?
