if you don't wish to name them is ok.

but given that you are alleging that an apple authorised service provider did not follow protocol,

can you at least confirm it's 1 of these 4?
  1. Apple Store (Marina Bay Sands / Orchard / Jewel)
  2. A.Lab
  3. ISTUDIO
  4. QCD
If it isn't, might be better that you withdraw your allegation that it is Apple Service Provider.

because if your intention to not name them is because you don't want to get into trouble, then alleging that an Apple Authorised Service Provider did not follow protocol, when they aren't is also something that can potentially get you into trouble.

So can you please confirm?
Bro, think you mistaken my post… don’t think I alleged they did not followed protocol as I was seeking advices on what’s the norm after watching similar repair videos…

after fellow users mentioned it’s not norm then I WhatsApp the company to seek clarification…

you mentioned the following:

1. you said you replaced it at apple authorised service provider.
2. you said that you saw them opening up, replace the battery and close it up the screen.
3. you say that they didn't replace the seal from what you observed.
4. given that you are able to observe all these, it suggest that they are doing it in front of you which is kinda unheard of by an apple authorised service provider.

You are essentially suggesting that an "apple authorised service provider"

1. does the repair in front of customers (which doesn't seem normal)
2. did not replace the seal.

hence just wanted to confirm with you whether the "apple authorised service provider" is any of these 4 companies which i believe you should be able to confirm without disclosing their name.
  1. Apple Store (Marina Bay Sands / Orchard / Jewel)
  2. A.Lab
  3. ISTUDIO
  4. QCD
Because if it's not any of these 4, then maybe you have mistaken that the shop you go to is an apple authorised service provider, and hence it is better that you remove that reference.
Hi All,

Long story short.

I replaced my Iphone 13 Pro max battery last year at an Apple Authorized service provider.

can I check with you all whether anyone has encountered that they never replaced the water resistant/proof seal, the one between the gap around the case and screen.

Seal plastic in blue in color as i saw it on some random videos over youtube etc.

Is it normal to be doing that?

i was the only customer when the shop replacing the battery. it's just open the phone via the screen, take out the battery and replace it. close up the screen...

I thought thats the norm until i saw random videos showing how they replace battery etc

Issue was the seal not being replaced which i observed then, was thinking its normal...

Only until recently that saw a youtube video whereby the installer of the battery will replace it with a new one.

hence asking here whether anyone has similar experience etc

Ok then they aren’t Apple authorised service provider.

you might want to change your first post to avoid that allegation that you eventually make.

Genius will direct you here to check the names against their database.

right

anyway why did you decide to go with IRP rather than Authorised? to save on cost?

also noted that you have edited to Apple Independent Repair Provider.

But technically it should just be IRP without Apple infront.

as you can see from how it's listed

Just "Independent Repair Provider" rather than "Apple Independent Repair Provider"

Unlike "Apple Authorized Service Provider"

If you intention of not naming is cause you don't want to get into trouble. Then maybe do it all the way

Adhesive seals need to be replaced the moment you open up the phone. Actually, you should name out the shop that does this so that people can avoid facing the same issue.

Anyway if talking abt mister mobile, i ever did enquired them to change my ip7 battery cos i went for budget repair. i asked them for the sealing part and they say they will apply silicon to seal up the phone. i was like ohhh.. silicon...

but partially can understand since this is old model and perhaps no seal available anymore.

end up i didnt change my ip7 battery.

they asking me to go down, will be dropping by after work later to get them to fix it....

i think the purpose i feel, not about naming but more to know what we be getting during the battery replacement...

hahahaha... its hard doing business in Singapore, mine not a serious issue to warrant naming.... just asking around for anyone with same experience etc

But you see, by not naming, and just condoning the action because they resolve your concern, the merchant might continue to be unscrupulous with how they do business and then those who aren’t aware get scammed by it.

It’s like had someone shared about this company before and their modus operandi, and you go do research before deciding whether to go to them, you might not get yourself into the current situation.

Agreed, pooling of experiences and knowledge will enable others to not face similar incidents.

Then all the more they should be doing it the right way, instead of "short cutting".
Its not like consumers paying peanuts, especially in SG.

As consumers, we shouldn’t enable such businesses.

Being nice to them just because it’s hard to do business is like being selfish to other consumers who don’t get caveat emptor.
