Iphone Buyers Beware

Usually i have positive experiences buying n selling things on Carousell. But this just made me so boiling mad that i just have to vent!!!

Bought a iPhone 6s with only the charger on Carousell, but after i brought it home n connected to iTunes that i realised that it was actually an iPhone 6 instead.

The back casing was replaced with the 6s casing!! And the Touch ID is spoilt!!

And when I contacted the seller for refund, he insisted that it is a iPhone 6s and refused to refund of cos!!!
Can only blame myself now

Did you check the phone touch id, apple warranty with serial number etc?

Its a used phone. No more warranty

even if no more warranty, the serial no will tell you if it's 6 or 6s.
If not, can always google for the model (under settings, general, about)

Have alrdy checked the serial n model no. Its definitely iPhone 6. But the model no on the back casing is different from the number in Settings

i think you should post about the seller id so others wont buy from him

everytime I buy iphone from carousell:
- I hit erase all settings. then set as new phone without icloud id
- I put sim card to test
- call other number to check mic/speaker
- take photo
- browse internet using data plan
- check screen and some menu

all of this will last 10 mins. if seller dont agree, I dont buy. simple as that

So easy to tell if its iPhone 6 or 6s..

3D Touch is the only thing which differentiate a 6 and a 6s . No need for serial number.

I feel for you.. that's why I rarely buy things on carousell.
The only iPhone I bought from carousell is iPhone 3G and iPhone 5s.

For iPhone 3G, the seller did mentioned that she dropped the phone before the day she meet me and the home button was not functioning.

She agree to give me a $50 discount for the phone so I agreed. Met up with her, tested the phone, and I agree then pay her.

For iPhone 5s, I checked the quality of the phone, make sure that the touch ID is there and functioning, make sure that there is no scratches as shown in the picture and claimed by the seller and make sure that it is 64GB. I didn't had a spare SIM card to test the phone but then when I went home to test, luckily everything works fine. The only downside is that the phone speaker quite dusty, but ok la, when I went to paste screen protector, ask the phone shop ppl ask me to wipe off the dust, then its like as good as new already.

Paid $350 for the phone though, worth the money.

Yeah. Post seller ID & phone number. Need to blacklist such ppl.

report police to see whether there any element of cheating. otherwise, report for record purpose.

if not, take it up with small claim. just inconvenience him. the recent case of tampering of odometer by car dealer, also result in the plaintiff winning the case.

my colleague also encountered the same thing when the seller of the vehicle posted misleading information (regular servicing at dealer)) on sgcarmart. when my colleague went to dealer for servicing, he realised the seller had not went to the dealer for servicing for 2 years. in the end, he got compensated through small claim.

snapshot the carousell advertisement and conversation. dun let him off, make sure he compensate you.

Have you got written evidence that what's supposed to be transacted is an iPhone 6s? If so, you already have a case of misrepresentation, at the least.

Casing is just... casing. No case here. As for claims about the Touch ID, etc, these should have been checked and presented at point-of-sales. Actually... everything should have been checked there and then...

Does your (written?) correspondence indicate the IMEI number too? If so, can prove that's the same phone being handed to you.

Yup, go to the authorities with your evidences, if he's not willing to take it back based on "wrong" phone given to you.

That's why I will never buy a 2nd hand phone.

because u can never fully check the item for all sorts of problems before you pay.
