Anyway since there are no other threads, I’ll just share a youtube here for the bare minority

I’m blown away by Liam Wong’s shots in the late night. I certainly had no guts to venture so late alone in those locations in uk, but I might try it out in japan and Korea. Of cos I suspect there is a lot of post processing that he did

Eventually I’m going to give in to ip15pm. Went to have a feel, light enough. At challenger 14pm is down to <1.8k for 256, that is only 200 saving.

saw some reviews, most of the time I can’t tell the difference between 14pm and 15pm.

I tried the x5, seems to require a human subject to be 4-5m away perhaps in an alley. It’s only good for streets photography at certain distance, not so good for someone near you definitely not for family.

portrait mode still as artificial as hell.

So if I want a bigger screen I got to bear with a x5 instead of x3, or just give to tele totally on ip15 plus.

and if I buy 15pm, then it is not due to the cam, but just Becos of the usb-c (is charging faster?) and lighter weight, and being able to buy direct from apple

I saw some website selling 14pm going down to 1.5k for ip14pm, just dunno how reliable they are

One reason I dun like the typical reviews are they are too technical. How a 120mm fits in isn’t much discussed or had enough examples. I’m also keen to know how much bokeh is possible but I suspect not much at all

I saw some YouTube’s talking about 80mm on a full frame but that is not going to be anything near a mobile phone with such a small aperture. Just dunno how much I can tap into this 120mm and if it is worth paying 15pm vs 15+, or 15+ vs 14pm

If cost is really a concern, can get a preowned 14pm at $1.1k>, and if battery health is a concern can just pay $145 to replace it at Apple.

Otherwise, 15PM would have the added benefit of a much lighter phone, a new finish, thinner bezels, "Slightly" better camera, and of course USB-C.

If not urgent, wait it out another month and monitor prices for both 14 & 15pm.

I just saw this article.

The IP15 Pro models can retroactively shift your focal point after the photos are taken.

This is one huge advantage over other normal DSLR cameras and even the IP 14.

Need a while to explore the tricks

but after all sensor so small and dof is expected not so shallow. And the portrait blurring I need to explore more but I suspect won’t do wonders

In the end I got 15 and 15p, for convenience. Right now looking at beastgrip 1.7x or moment 58mm tele but still checking if there is a longer 3-5x tele

but maybe go japan can see if can buy a ip12-14 for family if cheap cheap

First of all dun take my word for it as I’m also relying on scanty reviews

long story short
- I had existing vouchers at moment
- prior reviews of anamorphic build: moment > sand
- tele: moment>san shallower depth of field
- moment cheaper than beastcage by half

the following YouTube review an older version (m series) of moment tele which has better dof than sandmarc. A newer version (t series) of moment tele is for iPhone 15 larger sensor presumably better but no comparison yet for moment t series vs sandmarc

That said moment anamorphic had came after fire for its smaller glass in its older version which looks nice but only good for older phones. Those using ip14 is complaining of poorer quality in the edges especially on its 1.55x anamorphic

I do not know if this was an issue with the tele but to future proof your purchase you should buy the T series as the attachment is new and not backward compatible. Other companies providing cases do not provide the old M series attachment but only the new T series

however T series on ip15 3x lens is not tested if you are thinking of doing that

im going to get a smallrig cage with different plates that can fit lenses from different companies
- moment T series (not M series)
- sandmarc 17mm attachment
- beastcage 37mm attachment

But do note that these cages are phone specific and not universal. They are heavy eg 100g for smallrig and even heavier for beastcage (ip15 model out only in dec/jan).

For lighter weight, moment sandmarc all sell its own phone specific plastic casing (can only fits its own brand lens)

for universal usage you can buy
- those clip on (instead of cases/cages)
- those universal cage (but huge and ugly)

Thanks for the detailed explanation. Agree, not much reviews online.
i am pivoting towards Sandmarc due to the costs, around USD129 (before BF discounts) for the package, while Moment would have costs much more.

The video, moment does looks nicer due to moment>san shaller dept of field, and probably will need to get 3rd party software for 6x zoom effects also.
read that moment M series mount is also "plastic-y" compare to Sandmarc metallic
