Hi everyone,

I am currently using this device UME Slim Series Power Bank 8800mAh to charge my iphone 5.

Given that this link says that iphone 5 capacity is 1440mAh (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4699727?start=0&tstart=0), it should mean that the power bank can at least charge the phone 6 times.

However, upon trying it out, it can barely even charge my phone to 100%.

Am I misunderstanding something or is the power bank faulty?

Thanks!

Understand that there will always be power loss during conversion meaning you'll not get full 8800mAh when using it to charge something else. Good quality power banks will understandably have higher conversion efficiency.

That being said, not being able to even charge it once to 100% is unusual cause even a low conversion efficiency power bank should be able to top up the iPhone 5. How old is the power bank and your iPhone 5's battery? Can you check the power output rating of the power bank?

Thanks for the reply Conan. I just bought the power bank. Unfortunately, I am not sure about the power output rating. Checked the packaging and there is no mention of it (http://list.qoo10.sg/item/UME-SLIM-SERIES-POWER-BANK-8800MAH/536538631?banner_no=1011763)

Technically No, you cannot charge up to 6 times.
Not saying anything, but looks like the power bank is of poor quality, hence cheap to able to have 8800mAH at this price.
Better quality power bank are rather expensive and can withstand longer charging period.

Power bank of poor quality may loose the storage faster than any others.
As you may have to experiment and test when you last charged the power bank and to charge to your phone.
There should be led indicator to measure the storage left, as if there is no such indicator it mean it cannot hold the charge of 8800mAH too long.
Hence you may not able to charge up to 100% as it had already no more charge left.
Also the cable do play a role in charging as some are of poor quality.

Always use the original charger and cable to charge at home.
Once you wake up and do the charge first, even with around 60% battery percentage left is still able to charge.
The other purpose of the charger is the able to maintain a stable charging so that the phone can convert and maintain the correct voltage.
Charger are of 5V whereas battery are 3.8V which the phone itself is the actual charge conversion.

Using power bank charging and using the phone at the same time may increase heat and so charging will be affected, unable to reach 100%.
Creating such additional heat to the phone may cause the phone wear and tear faster.

Regards.

I managed to locate the voltage information.
Input: DC5.0V/2 0A
Output: DC5.1V/2 1A
KMV 03/17
Capacity: 3.6V/8800mAh (31.68wh)

Does the above explain why the power bank is of such poor quality? If not, I may have to go ask for an exchange. Thank you.

do not believe the written specs for no brand power bank .

8800mah capacity should at least charge 2 times full ( 0-100% )

for power bank , sellers can choose to take many different type of actual capacity

1000 / 2200 / 2600 /4400 /5200 / 8800

all different costing , lower capacity lower price .

sellers selling on online platforms usually are forced to take 1000 / 2200 mah power banks in order to stay competitive

best bet is to buy original xiaomi power bank . but there are many fakes in the marker.

Original Xiaomi power bank are inexpensive and rather good in performance.
But it is rather heavy with most from 14,000mAH and price below $20 or less, as i based on last year price.

Thanks

asking an exchange is no use just ask for a refund and tell me reason to them

Hi I like to say the deep truth THE BRAND UNDER
**UME** STOp your scam and to customers who bought ask for an immediate refund if you own a power bank
That run by
Input:5V and 2amp
Output:5.1V or just 5V by 2.0/.1amp
And most important run by 31.68wh
If not just see whether your power bank by the brand is from 800Mah-9999Mah
I would like to tell you I have found out Is it so because there 2battery presumably 2000mAh each but when I open it only one battery was connected to the supply the other was NOT connected you may want to open yours and check or give me you H.P number so I can send you a video or picture about it
