Btw, i realize in Taobao i can find shops selling 酷喵VIP for rather low prices. Much lower than the subscription price from Youku's official app.
But i'm wondering what will happen after it expires. Will it auto downgrade to normal VIP or will it try to deduct from the account that is tied to VIP payment.

No idea here. You can always try a different account for the 酷喵VIP for experiment.

I always use the official app to pay -- but take note I have not paid for TV version VIP of Youku and Tencent Video.

AJS VPN VIP: RMB 198 per year

QQ Music VIP: RMB 90 per year (bought through promotion price RMB 180 for two years)

Tencent Video mobile VIP -- RMB 98 per year during promotion.

Youku mobile VIP -- "free" as part of Taobao 88VIP (RMB 88 per year)

Xiami Music VIP (almost never used) -- now changed to Netease Cloud Music VIP, "free" as part of Taobao 88VIP (RMB 88 per year)

But take note Taobao 88 VIP requires that you spend enough to qualify.

Last night i came across this app called 悟空遥控器
Pretty interesting, seems to have quite a number of shows, and also live TV channels from China.

Haven't really tried it on a streaming device though. Need to cast to play on TV. Doesn't do anything for the mobile version alone.

Haha, you are trying to use your 电视果 and you are trying the more difficult path.

If you are mainly interested in Chinese Entertainment, just buy a cheap Android TV box (S905X3 2GB/16GB) and you will be settled.

Actually you can try install the apps on your Mi TV Stick as well. The only problem is that it has only 1GB of RAM.

Haha actually personally i'm only interested in the Chinese entertainment platform due to its lower subscription rate and i can watch some hollywood movie shows. As for the Chinese content its more for my dad but he mostly just watch on mobile.

Where to get this? Does it only have china vpn or other countries too?

AJS VPN VIP: RMB 198 per year

All the Youku VIP etc, do you mean still sometimes need to cast with mobile, not all shows can direct watch on mibox S?

QQ music with Transocks is good. Trying to find good discount for QQ music VIP. Is their "no data consumption" plan workable for SG telco at all?

AJS is only for going into China. All these China VPNs are not that cheap and only for going into China. AJS is already one of the cheapest if you only need single connection. If you need multiple connection, get Transocks.

As for Youku VIP, if you only pay for mobile VIP, you can only cast to a TV box like Mi Box S and only up to 1080p. If you pay for TV version VIP (酷喵VIP), then you can watch directly on the TV box and there are 4k contents.

No data consumption is only for telcos in mainland China, not applicable outside of mainland China.

I see. In that case, these Chinese Entertainment apps are still good for you.

I will still suggest buying a proper Android TV box like Mi Box S or Google Chromecast 2020 to use them more effectively.

Trying to install QQ music and Transocks on on MiboxS.

The Transocks TV apk is not free, and the Transocks mobile apk actually doesn't work on MiboxS for me, it just crashes, any idea what I am doing wrong?

Also is there a place to download QQ music for TV?

Also I have CIBN installed on MiboxS, but how to get the VIP, or any account setup at all? Trying to "denglu" just brings up a QR which after scanning with Wechat handphone app, unable to get code due to SG phone number not accepted.

Yes it is troublesome to get Transocks VPN to work under Mi Box S. You may have to try and error and you need a mouse. I gave up and bought AJS.

As for TV version of popular apps, you can download from Shafa or Dangbei.
http://www.dangbei.com/app/
http://app.shafa.com/hot

Not so sure which CIBN app you are talking about. There are many apps with the name CIBN in front.

But anyway, subscription to all these Chinese apps are not easy and that is the main hurdle. And it is getting more and more difficult. You may need to have proper Wechat Pay or use some 3rd party to pay for the VIP for QQ Music and Tencent Video.

Youku may be slightly easier as it is not tied to Wechat.

Sorry I will not be able to help here -- you have to figure out by yourself on the subscription part.

If you are referring to CIBN酷喵, then you can scan the QR code with Youku mobile app to login. As for getting VIP, i suggest performing on the mobile, as it'll be easier to navigate.

There are a few approaches for getting the VIP.
1. Sign up for their official monthly subscription.
i've tried using Alipay.
you can find sellers in carousell who can top up your Alipay wallet for you.

2. Buy week/month/season/year card.
For mobile VIP, there are several sites that you can buy from, just google for 'buy Youku vip'.
For 酷喵VIP, i've seen stores in Taobao selling it. Have yet to try, but very likely i'll go for this.

3. xiaofan have mentioned in one of his last few posts that signing up Taobao 88 VIP grants him Youku VIP (mobile).

Yes that is the correct website and I registered with a China Mobile phone number.

On the other hand, search this thread and I remembered someone registered with an email address. You may want to try using iOS as well.

Thanks for the fast reply! i don't have iPhone though, the closest i have will be iphone simulator.. hahaha

i realise there are some sites that provide temporary china numbers for sms. May i know for the AJS payment-wise, the wechat or alipay account does it have to be the same mobile number as your AJS account?

No need to be the same.

Can share which one is the Tencent app on iPhone and iPad? Do we need vpn to watch?

Tencent Video 腾讯视频 app is available from Apple iOS app store. You can also pay subscription using Apple in app purchase at S$36.98 per year.

Yes you still need China VPN for quite some videos, especially for Hollywood movies. Transocks VIP subscription is at S$54.98 from Apple app store in-app purchase (up to three connections). AJS 爱加速 VIP subscription is also available at S$45.98 per year (one connection only).

You can try transocks vpn for free first to see how you like it.

QQ Music is also available. Annual VIP is S$17.98 for lower tier 付费音乐包 (good enough for most users) and S$36.98 for the higher tier 绿钻豪华版.

Free version: ads supported, limited number of servers, only for mobile (iOS and Android)

Paid version: no ads, more servers, for mobile, Windows, Mac and Android TV boxes.

No wonder my free version don’t work on android tv boxes

Previously it was working on my Mi Box S but I have not tried it for quite a while. It was a bit troublesom at the time -- a mouse was needed.

In the end I decided to pay for AJS.

These are the free ones you can try on your Android TV box, you may need to sideload the mobile version and use mouse.
1) Transocks (free mobile version)
2) SpeedIn (free mobile version)
3) SpeedCN, not really free, but may offer free trial
4) Malus, not really free, but may offer free trial
5) UfunR, free, used to work, not sure now
6) Flyfish 飞鱼, this may work as well

AJS and SpeedCN were free last time.
