what do you mean?

ke bu ke yi (可不可以), we key in only "kbky"? it auto learn it I think.

no, using ur example, i type ke, can i choose which 'sound' out of the four sound? 第几声

I doubt so. I looked through all the avilable Chinese input methods in iOS, I didn't see anything that look like can input the "sound"

Nope u can't input the sound. When u key in the hanyu pinyin, ios kind of predict the words for u, according to your previous word to help u complete the sentence.

If for example, the predicted word is not what u want, u can expand n see the rest of the Chinese characters with the associated hanyu pinyin. The list will include all the 4 sounds of the associated hanyu pinyin. Hope this helps

you can also input via voice... I've tried both Mandarin & Cantonese - all work: just go to siri and choose the language/dialect... it's very easy.

When u want to input the text, change the keyboard to either 简体 or 繁体, then touch the mike icon & speak...

Yah. That's the problem. Since u know the pinyin, another way is to input the associated words together. Instead of typing word by word and selecting one word at a time, u type everything together. Eg: Gongxifacai instead of gong xi fa cai.

Common phrase is ok
But if its like some two character word, its much difficult as many matches can come out or even a stand alone word..

Eg 需要 vs 须要

Use what you are comfortable with. Alternatively, learn one of the harder to input methods, those usually, once picked up, can type much faster than methods like PinYin

why not use 'chinese handwriting mode'? its probably faster to write than to think of HYPY
