This one for standing charging iPhone with lightning port. With PSAJ i am not sure, but the port does appear to be able to charge with apple leather casing, as you can see there is a small bump at the base.

Looks rather weak without a bracket or back wall for the phone to rest against. During charging, if accidentally knock into it for whatever reason, something gotta give.... like a broken lightning port or even phone casing.

A good guess is probably because it accommodates a variety of iphone casings and in doing so, it does away with a backing; Without a backing, iPad is too heavy for the lightning connector.

a charging dock is good for a few usage scenarios: using iphone as a clock/alarm clock and keeping siri activated and in stand by, for example.

Without battery drain? Use your phone with power adaptor on will kill your battery life faster ever... Whenever your phone is activated, power come from battery (no matter power adaptor on or not)... If adaptor is on mean your battery has released power to phone and received from adaptor at the same time!! Unless u remove your phone battery which impossible for iPhone!!
