I would try and do a full restore of the phone. It could be a setting or app the runs in the background, causing the problem.

are you using Pebble Watch, or some sort of Bluetooth device that is connected to your phone ?

me, i using Pebble
same issues - hot, battery drains faster than usual

found out the cause
whenever there's been an iOS update available
Pebble app will have an update
my problem is i did not (auto) update this app
it is fine until there will come a time when the 2 devices are in constant communications with each other via Bluetooth
this process is not visible or made known to u (it runs in the background)

this could be what u facing (could be any other Bluetooth device)

the other probability is of a more serious nature
i exp that too
the phone runs hot & becomes unresponsive to the Home, and power buttons, or the screen freezes
what i exp was the phone went dead after that on its own (screen just turned blank)
do a hard reset ...
then go thru the Diagnostic (under Settings, Privacy, ....)
look thru each one for code : bug type 1001, 1004, 1101 (seriously cant rem liao) at the first line of latest reports
if have, backup your iPhone (sync to PC)
call Wheelock RMA and ask for advise ...
chances are you will be told to bring phone in for test
and if confirm got that code, 1-to-1 exchange after they run further test (u will be told to come back 30-45 mins later)
and rem to make online booking appt if u need to go to Wheelock
saves you a lot of initial waiting time
