to be honest,

ever since Steve is gone, most of their innovation on the iPhone are copycats from Android.

the only thing that i admire the most is their iCloud phone activation lock and the touchID which Android should start adopting this to prevent theft.

As thieves will no longer steal iPhone 5S... why? no value if sell to the shops. only probably have some value for the spare parts.

While Google, it keep on coming out with new innovation especially the project ARA.

oh well this is a Apple forum.. so i guess i stop from here.

Because short sighted consumers failed to see how their greediness act of wanting cheaper products supported a group of shameless and unethical commercial robbers ?

Because how in the interest of self-being able to afford a product helps to destroy the future of their very own younger generations by supporting such incorrigible acts, setting a new standard of how plagiarism can be ignored ?

Because within the mind of these consumers, since they wouldn't live long enough to witness the tragedy, so just satisfy their own self gratification will do.

It's not hard to read how some minds are meant to survive longer, while some minds are just meant to satisfy immediate needs. Clearly "jiao way" is the only vocabulary some of these consumers possess. Shallow in thoughts.

It doesn't matter if it's Apple or Samsung or Microsoft. Each has their own share of reusing ideas from the competitors. However, no matter which level you look at these companies. they contribute back to the industry will a totally different flavoured product. One they can call is their own creation. One that despite using other peoples idea, end up with their own characteristics.

The ongoing war of patents is how these companies protect their own IP at feature level. The idea is to get royalty and compensation.

However, to date, I don't see how we can even call Samsung same as Apple or Apple same as Microsoft or Samsung same as Microsoft. Each bears a very different design philosophy and direction in how they want their product to move.

Looking at Xiaomi product, I failed to see what. If they can have the time working on a NAS that looks different from the rest, why should they copy until to such similar level of an Apple tablet ? Why should the OS look and feel looks so familar ?

This is not a taken of feature found in your opponent to apply it differently in your own product. This is plain outright plagiarism that shouldn't be condone.

Consumers should not just look at cost and choose your product. Of course you can, I can't say no. I just meant you shouldn't if you are an individual at respect originality and respect intellectual property.

IP is a very vague thing, not only applies to tangible products but also to ideas and concepts. At the level Xiaomi is doing, it's the yet obvious low balling technique executed again and again but so many shameless companies. The least a responsible, reasonable and intelligent consumer should do is boycott such acts because as much as you benefit from it, you are causing harm indirectly in the whole eco-system for originality.

Guess it's just me and some whom is concern with originality. The rest, heck with it, get cheap product first, who cares if it concern me right now. That's is how short-sighted a person can get once the monetary department cover over the rest.

I'm sorry, no one is interested in a Android/iPhone hard discussion. It wasn't even constructive and it doesn't contribute to the community, at all.

Everyone has their own preferences, if you think that Android is amazing. That's great! If you think Apple is doing a good job with their iPhone that's fine too.

u misread the posts. the argument was not about android phones vs iphone. but how a company like xiaomi iacks innovation vs many other companies. no wonder u didn't find it constructive.

I highly recommend you read the post properly on what it is about before you close it. As a moderator, I believe you have the responsibility to ascertain the truth to something before taking action in such high handed manner.

The cause I'm fighting for is for the benefit of the community, in fact the very technological industry that we are all in. If as a moderator, you failed to see where it's coming from, perhaps you would like to spend some time looking deeper into the matter.

Thanks for your attention.

Let's look at the replies in the thread.

He asked something along the lines of
Is iPhone 5 better or the new Galaxy model

The first reply.

nokia 8250 is the best. very battery saving too! comes with bundled in nice pre-installed snake game!

Followed by David's

Are you seriously ? Asking this in the iPhone Chat room ? Then obviously the answer will be "Get a nokia 3330", smartphone not suitable for you. :)

nokia3330-1356310513-4.jpg

and then further down, the spark for dispute between Android and Apple starts

Yup Xiaomi is the iPhone killer. Oppo also not bad and not forgetting oneplus.

If cheap makes it a iPhone killer, you can easily find them anywhere on the street :)

If expensive is good then Vertu is better then my 5S?

I don't remember I said expensive must be good. Do your world exist if it is not black, then it must be white? Mine is RGB.

To answer your question. What makes a product good is proper execution. As much as how cheap xiaomi is, I don't see it good enough to be an iPhone killer. Not just the branding but also the OS, the quality and most important of all, the ecosystem that it exist in.

*snipped*

and so on and so forth. The whole thread miserably derails, into a pile of words, discussing about how one can enjoy his XiaoMi and you have Knight_Rider saying that you're talking "jiao way"

So apart from making fun of OP/TS in the first few post, followed by the never ending "discussion" between Android and Apple.

Has the thread derailed from the original topic of should I get an iPhone or a Samsung 5S?

Once more, It wasn't about Android and iPhone. It's about how Xiaomi as a company have cannibalise the innovation and creation of the industry. No part of it was mentioning about Android. Did you actually read it properly on where the lines are ? I failed to see how it is classified as an Android vs Apple world when the heavy conversions are on how XiaoMi entry into the community diluted the creativity topic.

If your point it is OOT, I admit it is. To say it is a matter of Android vs iPhone, I don't agree.

Since Android is represented by various OEMs Oppo, XiaoMi, Sammy etc. I've just classified them as Androids.

Hmm, sure if you put it that way :)

Dear moderator,

Take it that I could have misunderstood why certain statements made above are strike out. Perhaps its meant as a miswritten. If so, you can safely ignore what I'm going to say. Just be noted it is by no means challenging the system nor the moderation.

Should I interpret the logic behind the strike out statement, that would means each time I refer to any individual by name, that would applies to the human race. Common understanding dictate that is illogical, as such, I failed to understand how explicitly mentioning XiaoMi would therefore implicate the Android system.

I hope the above clarification would clearly spell out the intention explicitly of the contents of the previous removed thread.

As for the previous thread is OOT, I totally agree and it is to the moderators prerogative to remove it.

My stand on the matter is not related to differ preferences to different mobile operating systems shall hold.

Thanks for your attention.
David
