Read that iPhone X camera comes with f1.8. Seems amazing! Wonder how it will fare against standard mirrorless with kit lens?
Kinda an apples to oranges comparison at that (pun unintended), most mirrorless cameras have (a) a much larger sensor than the one in the iphone X and (b) the option to change lenses. The mirrorless camera would offer greater flexibility in the range of things you can shoot with it, not to mention ergonomics that's leagues ahead.
That being said, the iphone X is a marvel of engineering. I'm certain that the software will help make the hardware fantastic so image quality wise, they shouldn't be too far off from each other if you just shoot in "normal" conditions with good lighting. Plus, the iphone has the fancy portrait lighting modes and truedepth and all the thingamajigs, all of that that most mirrorless cameras don't have at the time of writing, and weighs less than a similar mirrorless setup with a 28 and 56mm lenses.
I was thinking if one day phones can do things like
1) high speed sync
2) 1st curtain / 2nd curtain
3) radio triggers / remote control
I would say many camera models may become obsolete....
