Hi All,

I have purchased the iPhone X from Singtel during launch and yesterday I encountered the issue whereby my iPhone is not charging when plugged in and the battery level is stuck at 56%.

Subsequently, I used the phone till it auto turned off and showed the plug in to cable icon which I did subsequently and left it overnight. This morning, it’s still the same and not charging up at all. I have used my wife charger as well but it’s the same.

Both cables and chargers used are original as well and have no issue charging my older iPhone.

Any idea where should I bring the device to check on the issue? Currently I’m in Bangkok and wonder if any of the service center would be able to help as well. Otherwise I may have to wait till I’m back to Singapore.

I have AppleCare+ purchased for the phone as well.

Thanks in advance for the advises

Wait till you're back in Singapore. Go to Apple Store & ask for 1-to-1 exchange since you have AppleCare+. Unfortunately BKK doesn't have an Apple Store yet.

Yup AppleCare definitely eligible for 1-to-1 exchange; most likely you'll get a refurbished set.

Check the iPhone Charging Port for Debris, Lint, Obstructions

One of the primary reasons an iPhone won’t charge is remarkably simple; the port on the iPhone is clogged with dust, debris, pocket lint, or some other obstruction. Something quite small can easily prevent a charging cable from fitting properly into the iPhone, so the very first thing you should do is check the charging port on the iPhone and look for any crud or build-up in there. See some lint or some other wad of gremlin or crud? Get it out of there, preferably with something like a Q-Tip, toothpick, or a dry toothbrush. If you have a can of air, blowing it in there can help too.

Thanks for the advice. I have tried that as well initially and it’s still not working. The phone just display the large red battery icon if the cable is plugged in and large red battery icon with cable if the cable is not plugged in. Hence the charging port is able to sense the cable, just that the battery refused to charge up. Can’t even perform any hard reset and initially thought that by draining the battery, would be able to calibrate it to reset the charge.

Will update again after I visit the Apple store when I’m back to Singapore. Luckily I have my backup iphone with me when I travel

Do a soft reset.

1) Press the up button, then let go
2) Press the down button, then let go
3) Press and hold the side button till phone off by itself, and don't let go till you see the apple logo reappear.

Performing steps 1 & 2 have to be pretty quick. Try it.

Phone managed to turn on when placed on the wireless charging pad which I have and it refused to charge as well, stuck at 2% since last night. Hence definitely issue with the phone as I have even tried hard reset as well.

Just dropped my phone to Apple which they will send it to the depot to confirm if it can be serviced. Otherwise a replacement set will be issued as the problem might be with the circuit board.
