I am deep into the google ecosystem.. with google home, chromecast etc. I would not function with an iPhone :s13:

At least the grass seems greener on android side

Actually I find Google's apps are usually better or more feature-rich on iOS compared to Android....for some weird unknown reason.

not sure with others but 720p is actually non issue for me with that size its hardly noticeable, I haven't personally tried it yet but if UI is actually comparable with X (my current phone) then since I'm not really pretty much into OLED or camera i'll probably just on this next year too.

May not be noticeable if you upgrade from a low res phone but. If u used to use a high resolution phone it will be noticeable even compared side by side. Even compared to my cheapo $200 Xiaomi phone the iPhone xr screen looks worse.

Really mea? I see Google maps, photos like the same on my android phone as my iPad.

some extra apps like Google assistant etc obviously not available on iPhone and can't compare

is there a XR demo set floating around?

326ppi i think is decent.

720p on mobile cannot be compared to 720p on TV i feel.
coz iPhone can still stream 4k from YouTube even though it is not a 4k display.

I haven't seen it up close aside from that event video.. but the way I see it no difference (my eyes maybe that bad haha)... Anyways I'll try comparing it when they already got a display set.

Google Assistant is available on iOS but it's severely handicapped due to iOS limitations. Other than Google Assistant, other Google apps just seem more polished on iOS.

For example, dark mode for YouTube was on iOS months before Android. Hangsout on iOS comes with features that's not even on Android as we speak.

But we digress.

This thread is about iPhone XR. Haha think we gotta wait for demo sets before we can judge the screen resolution...

IMO the XR is a downgrade from 8+. Other than the larger screen, XR has lower ppi and camera. XR has the budget range (5c, SE) specs but the same cannot be said for the price.

XR has 1792×828 resolution (326 PPI)
8+ has 1,920 x 1,080 pixels (401 ppi)

It’s only a downgrade in terms of screen ppi.

It’s actually a upgrade in almost everything else, battery life, chip, etc.

If choosing between xs and xr yes xr makes sense. But I have a xs max and it’s really the best phone out there. The size is perfectly and the huge edge to edge screen is just gorgeous.

not really budget range specs.

except for resolution, PPI. the jury still out on the camera.

326ppi vs 401ppi. i believe is not much and the PPI game has got diminishing returns. bigger size means you _might_ actually need to hold it further away.

326ppi is near impossible to differentiate. RGB pixel arrangement some more. Unless you hold your phone like less than an inch from your face really impossible.

The reason why the OLED screens have such high ppi and resolution is to make up for the pentile pixel arrangement.

currently on 6s plus and was looking at the xr as an upgrade but saw a 1montth old 256gb ip x going for $950 on carousell and i decided to get it instead of waiting for the xr. based on what i read, real world performance wise the new a12 chip isn’t all that much different from the prev gen a11. if people don’t mind getting a used phone, imo last years ipx will be a better option than xr with the better screen and build quality

1 month old at $950 is very cheap for iPhone X 256gb.

Waiting for camera reviews comparison between XR n XS before I decide.

Lesser pixels to push but using the same chip. Means the XR is a good choice if you intend to upgrade your phone only after two/three years

i think those considering Xr should also look at 8 Plus. those 2 are the real competitors imo
