Ipod Shuffle problems

I recently bought a ipod shuffle that comes with one year warranty. It works fine on the first few days. However, I realised that my ipod shuffle cannot be connected to the computer via USB. I tried to charge the ipod with a 3 pin plug with the usb connector and the ipod cannot be detected as well. However, the ipod works just fine when I plugged in my earphones, i.e I still can listen to music but unable to charge.

So I guess I could go back to the shop that I had bought? And they will replace me with another one? Thank you for your help.
