Hi guys,

I have recently checked my tax payable on IRAS and there's a line for NSman Pay included in the income.

And i have checked the NS portal and the number tallies with the IPT allowance that i have been receiving. But i dont recall that I have been taxed on IPT allowance in the past. Any expert knows about this?

Yea i didn't know because i dont recall being taxed on my IPT allowance last year.

So you are saying that we pass our IPPT, all those allowance will be taxed? Man, i thought it is allowance instead of salary. It's not like i wanted to earn those money if i have a choice.

Hmm, im not saying that i will be worse off. But just not aware that we have to pay tax on those small allowance that we have to excuse ourselves to leave early from work to go to. Seems like now i can't even cover my transport fee :(:(

a reservist rank of CPL and the IPT allowance is about $19.

i shall consider you having a PTE (NS) rank but i doubt your allowance can be way much lesser. How about consider it to be $10? This amount is definitely way more than enough for your transport to the FCC unless you are getting a taxi or private-hire.

taxable wise, is only a small percentage from what you got from your allowance.

therefore, i find your surprise on IPT allowance is taxable not surprising though because you found that you wasn't being taxed previously, but it is surprising to me that you claimed to be paying more than what you get from the allowance.

Pass IPPT is incentive, not taxable
Attend IPT, is machiam attend training, so got nsmen pay which is taxable

Pls understand what is pay and what is incentive

Even NS Excellence Award is taxable
