Wooted Roomba 530 - VPOST

Yay! My Roomba arrived yesterday. It arrived via VPOST without any problems. Some dates and numbers for those interested:

28/8: Wooted the Roomba 530
31/8: Woot ships the Roomba
8/9: Arrived and processed at VPOST Oregon
9/9: VPOST processed the Roomba, and I pay up.
(shipping cost S$51 [after 10% discount])
15/9: Arrived in Singapore
16/9: Delivered

So:
3 days for Woot! to process and ship
8 days to reach VPost (1 or 2 days extra because of USA Labor day holiday)
1 day for VPost to process
6 days to reach Singapore
1 day for local delivery

In total 19 calendar days. Not too bad!:)

For those that used comgateway or borderlinx, what was your experience?

this time round, woot took a damn long time lo. usually should be like this
0 day process woot
3-5 day reach borderlinx
5 day reach singapore
note, about 10 days at max.

maybe like you said, cause of labour day holiday.

btw, should have used the 30% code instead. shipping SGD45

i usually keep my items stored for close to 30 days before release shipping. no point shipping it so early. can save on shipping when stacked together.

:( no post pics~?

heee....too excited liaos. never snap pics.

this time, they like put more protection le. got 1 brown box over the normal irobot box. so much protection. but no excess baggage.

Anyway, here's the delivery notice. Always impressed with DHL service. Unlike vpost, ask them to deliver, must beg them one. so fedup got to go collect myself.

not kill machine so soon, but your floor will be very slippery, so many chemicals harmful to your feet also~ :s22:

my 380 long ago upslorry, now using hsn.com 335, but also dying soon, use half way auto switchoff~ :s22:

Ha. My 380 (2nd hand from eBay) is still able to move & do the work. It is very long lasting to me. My blue 5800 (wooted) is not tat gd. I still hv another white 5800 in the box (wooted long time ago). But the 380 beats them all!

The killing part will be the battery. It is costly & cant get cheaply locally.

My roombas - all not using now coz the batt wont last long & cleaning is troublesome. My wife prefers to use the Bosch vacuum cleaner. But, she uses the Scooba. haha

I thought white one is 5900~? :s11:

I got the white one, but is 5900, none of the other detergent works with this unit, so left there collect dust, only used the spart parts such as tanks + brushes + battery on other scooba~ :s22:

Yah, I agreed roomba very troublesome to clean, very very dusty, want to use water to rinse the bin also cannot~ :(

Roomba still using, is amazing that even my mother mop the floor + use scooba everyday, roomba still able to vacuum many hair + dust~ :s22:

Last time I bought the li-ion battery for scooba, still able to use for more than a year, other included battery already dead long ago~ :(

It cld be a 5900. But i know it is a white type coz the batt is white.

Roomba not juz clean the bin. After a few months, you have to open the whole cover up & clean inside. It is so dirty you wont beleive. i tink i posted some photos many pages back. To search this thread is virtually impossible unless you have the time. Ha.:s13:

A white 5900 (early 2006 model) + a white battery (3000mAh only released since 2008) is a strange combination, the extra heavy 5900 & slowness requires 4100mAh batt to complete 500 sq ft (as claimed by iRobot).

Roomba 400 series isn't air tight like 500 series, most common dustball obstruction is bumper sensor (not cliff sensor), but easily resolved using ball/bicycle pump with needle nozzle thru battery insert holes.

I'm contemplating a few simple "anti-crap-accumulation" mods for 400 series:
a) use balloon & twisty wire to encase the bumper arm-to-IR sensor
b) use thick rigid straw (from Sweet Talk) to shield the main motor-to-gear shaft
c) a mod by iRobot SG technician - use scotch tape to cover main motor air vents. I didn't like this idea, but new revised Roomba 500 main motor doesn't have air vents anyway, so I guess venting isn't that crucial

Very early 400 series (fixed caster wheel) is prone to charging circuit damage while trying to charge REALLY dead battery.

Don collect dust, donate the core unit to me & I can make good use of it :)

The 500 series is easy to clean, all you need is a small paint brush which I always supply to my customer.

500 series' main components is all covered up so it's not that messy compared to 400.
