Should be the other way around. LOTR was written by a Oxford Professor in Literature, J. R. R. Tolkien. One of my favorite book when I was in Secondary School reading class.

And you are wondering why Singapore Government wanted to promote education industry? It's a hidden cash cow.

By the way, try UniSIM if you are a Singaporean, I think it is about $17 for 3 years of study, after "Government Subsidies".

He wants to know, as a no working experience person, should he even contemplate about 1yr degree because if it worksout to be as gd as those 2yrs or more , then he might just go for the 1yr

The better 1 yr degrees assume you already have knowledge of the previous year's work so, it is like no different from going direct NUS 3rd year (assume possible).

So what is going to happen is that you will pretty much get gged straight away and have a hard time coping because you simply don't have the foundation to handle the syllabus. Like trying to create a computer game in your second week when you can't remember how to even program a simple addition function first year people will have learnt.

The not-so-good ones (usually biz because biz stuff is all about smoking) will assume less of such a foundation and it will be easier to cope.

Best indicator is to look at the workload involved and failure rate. Generally for DL degrees with near 100% pass rate please stay far away.

1 year degree is for working people who wants to top up as they have manager position waiting for them.

Fresh person takes 3 yrs of course is better.

1 yr top up degree + experience is worth a lot more.

1 year degree is recognised by most pte companies and stat boards. But not recognised by civil service.

In my ex company, they don’t recognise a degree when they found the syllabus is half baked
