Is 100MB data phone plan enough for only surfing? No downloads no streaming.

Depends on what sites and how frequent you surf ...

I seriously doubt 100mb is going be enough to last 1 month.

no it's hardly enough. i don't (or rarely) download movies nor play games on my mobile. mainly productive apps (but freq sync 2 cloud) n social apps (whatsapp, Line, FB & etc). my nominal daily usage is ard 30MB.

I'm still on old plan iOne Plus ($25.68) with no data. So if I'm outside my house I can't receive WhatsApp or LINE. I have no other choice but to change to the SuperLite (100MB, $27.90) right?

I hope 100MB is enough for WhatsApp and LINE notifications.

depends on how you use it..

do ensure u don't set to auto download media in whatsapp, and turn off all advertisement on LINE..

the $1/10MB/7days of singtel prepaid is more than enough. there's always even left overs of 5MB or less.

just whatsapp/viber, opera mini, sgbuses. what more do you need?

if only messaging like whatsapp and line, even not on 3G (aka GPRS), it will be fine. no need for LTE phone.

facebook is just data hog. do that when you are on wifi.

Yes, if only the 100MB usage is used for WhatsApp and LINE and some light web browsing.
On the SuperLite plan too, use around 3-4MB of data daily, only sometimes exceed the daily usage a little by checking some stuffs that require loading some images. Normally when something has load finish, I quickly switch off my data, haha..

I wanted to pay as little as possible for mobile plan, so SuperLite at $27 is cheapest but only 100MB data. I will turn off data connection when traveling or busy ..... only turn it on when I want to know if anyone is looking for me for appointment etc. Won't use it to play games or Facebook or Youtube. I think just WhatsApp and LINE and main email inbox.

I called up to upgrade to SuperLite (from iOne Plus), received a sms that my CallerID is cancelled. I must have got CallerID free from old Fibre or Mio plans but I understand that nowadays CallerID is no longer free.

Actually 100MB not enough for light internet surfing...

For me, last time I am using prepaid, where they have a $15 for 500MB (now 600MB) for 30 days...

I used data for checking emails, Facebook, WhatsApps, HangOut and Twitter... Once in a while will view video (normally from Facebook which linked to YouTube)... By 30 days would have used at least 500MB...

^ that's the thing. if you stick only with the important critical app like whatsapp and email, you will never reach even a small allocated limit. if you're dependent on facebook for facebook messaging, either install the separate messaging app, or use IM+ messaging client.

i don't use twitter, but i guess that's a low data use app as well, being only snippets of text tweets coming and going.

100MB plans for light usage users ma .. for basic whatsapp can la ... maybe targeted at seniors?

people like me use 7-8GB per month .. pay more for the higher tier plans ..

As for whether 100 MB is enough, yes it depends on your data usage but quite a lot of people here forget to mention that it also depends on your phone's data usage. Smartphones use background data and the more apps you have installed, the more background data it can use. Even without installing any new apps, phones already use background data.

Yes, you can restrict through the settings, but many may not realize until their tiny 100 MB cap has been sucked up in two days by some background update. Or that video they opened cost them 50 MB data in a few seconds.

For me, at least 1 GB is a safe bet and provides a lot of cushion, even if you're a light user. And if your call volume/SMS usage is it's better to go for prepaid because it's very cheap and you can roll over your unused data. At 100 MB per month, the 1GB you bought at $7 can stretch from Jan to Oct at a total cost of $50 (or $5 per month).

Personally I mostly use WhatsApp, other apps like iris Next Bus, Maps, banking, etc, and some of website surfing. I don't watch videos on data (only do on Wifi), and any large downloads I do over wifi. My monthly usage is around 500 to 700 MB.
