There are two kinds of bubbles in history. The tulip craze. And the dot-com crash.

Tulips left nothing. The internet left everything.

Gates: “In the end something very profound happened. The world was very different.”

AI is following the dot-com playbook exactly. Irrational capital. Frenzied competition. Companies burning money faster than they can build business models. And underneath all of it, a technology that is changing everything.

Permanently.

Gates: “AI is the biggest technical thing ever in my lifetime.”

This is the classic AI paradox.
If AI wipes out jobs → People lose income → Demand falls → Companies can't sell → Economy shrinks.

It sounds logical.
But automation does 3 things:
1. Kills some jobs
2. Changes most jobs
3. Creates new layers of work

ATMs did not kill banks.
Spreadsheets did not kill accountants.
Internet did not kill commerce.

AI attacks cognitive labor, not just manual labor. That's new.
So what likely happens?
• Productivity rises
• Some roles shrink
• New roles form around AI supervision, integration, optimization
• Governments intervene if unemployment spikes

Capitalism survives on demand.
If demand collapses, systems adjust.
The real risk is not no one will buy. It is inequality widening.
AI won't end the economy.
But it will force it to restructure
