The price paying for additional 1 years is not expensive. I would get it right on the spot to have a worry free 2 years!

Apple parts are expensive so getting AppleCare is highly recommended.

of course BUY ! anything up lorry with your mbp is more expensive than the cost of AppleCare....you dont need to bring the mbp about for it to give you issues....

get a student to help you buy.. its cheaper !

yeah. worth buying the Apple care.

dont be like me..suay suay 1 week before 3 years, the MBP logic board died. replacement cost $7xx.

in the end, i bought iMac.

Hi Alannxs,

If your refurbished MBP is outside of its initial 1 year Limited Warranty, you are not entitled to register the AppleCare Protection Plan anymore.

If your refurbished MBP is still within the warranty coverage, you may wish to consider purchasing an AppleCare Protection Plan. Do note that you need to pay both Parts & Labour in the event of servicing due to hardware failure when its out of warranty.

My suggestion is to buy for the peace of mind.

Recently, my MBP ( mid 2012 model) has a white patch on the screen. The screen was replaced at no cost under AppleCare. This AppleCare expires in Jul 2015 though and I hope nothing worst will happen after that.

Few years back when I had a faulty video card with my MacPro, it was also replaced under AppleCare.

Take it as an investment and your machine is covered should it fail.

There isn't AppleCare+ for MacBooks.
What you're purchasing is just 2 extra years of AppleCare.

Microsoft's Surface is a tablet with a add-on keyboard.
Please don't compare apples with oranges.
iPad offers AppleCare+ which covers accidental damages for 2 years too.

I'm aware but Surface can pretty much be considered a full-fledged laptop. I mean, you can't run OS X on an iPad right?

Anyway, I apologize for going off-topic. I was deliberating on the same issue myself and came across MS's rather attractive insurance

Of all the times I've bought Apple Care, I've not had any major problems with my MBP/iPhone/iPad. The only 1 time I decided not to get Apple Care was for my current rMBP and in the last days towards the end of the warranty, the logic board decides to be funny and fail.

Thankfully, I called Apple up before the end of the warranty and had them lock it in their system. So now, after they've repaired it for free, theres an additional 90 days on the logic board.

To get or not to get, its really up to you. The repairs are costly but so is Apple Care. Each Apple Care adds up to quite a sum of money. I believe that if they can offer over 3 years of coverage in total, they stand by their products lasting at least that long. For portable computers, I highly suggest getting it covered.

Your mileage will vary.

but i have seen macs failing in the initial year..

Yes, it is international.


Even Applecare+ is also global. this is confirmed by an Apple Associate at the Apple Store

But if u dont buy & something happens, u curse & swear & say if u know better u would have bought.
