Is buying GPU from Amazon viable?

So I asked around online and people recommended that I buy parts like GPU locally unless if residing in Europe or US. But Amazon offers far better prices, and I see some of the people here buying online.

I'm worried if a card arrives DOA. Anyone have their experiences to share? Buy online or from local shops? There's no warranty if bought from Amazon right?

If the savings is 'huge' like 100-200 then i feel that it might be worth the risk
if card arrive DoA, should be able to exchange with amazon ( more waiting time)
If want to claim warrenty, need to send it back to US at your own cost but EVGA can send back to hongkong or something? (Correct me if Im wrong about warrenty ) Which is cheaper for hongkong :vijayadmin:

Example, powercolor 7970 SGD495 in sls.
Being a older gen card soon, amazon has it for 299 USD sometimes which is 400 only?
HIS goes for 289USd sometimes, really attractive price. for a 7970...
HIS 7950 only 215USD
Think about it carefully, sometime deals come and go. If it's worth then go for it, You snooze you lose and regret after that sometimes. :o

I do agree that amazon offers better pricing for gpu compared to local distros. There is warranty if you are buying from amazon but you will have to ship back overseas for warranty claim.

Are there any brand that can RMA at local service center even if buy from amazon? Also feels like buying from amazon but just kinda turn off by the expensive shipping cost to ship back to US if need to RMA.

I doubt there is any local distro who is willing to do that. It just doesn't make any business sense for any distro to do that.

Go with cheapest these days. For me that is. Why pay lots of extras for virtually nothing.

Money aside, SG stocks actually have different product codes from those distributed from US, so if local distro were to send a US card back to manufacturer under their name, they would actually be rejected because they're not allowed to carry US distributed stock in the first place.

Or something like that.
