Had a bit of hesitation when getting 5080. Now seems like not such a bad choice afterall.... 🤔

My AMD Ryzen 7 5700G with Asus TUF Gaming B550M-PLUS Wifi II bought from Pinduoduo 拼多多 have activated the Precision Boose Overdrive 2 (PBO2) Curve optimizer to reduce the voltage while maintaining stability.

I used the Thermalright Tower Cooler instead as my CPU bought from Pinduoduo 拼多多 is tray processor.
It is able to keep up with the temperature generated max at around 85c at stock setting.
With PBO2 negative Per core setting temperature dropped to around 75c to 80c.

RAM I'm also using 2x 16GB Orico DDR4 3600Mhz CL18 ram which is considered ram overclocking using the DOCP (XMP 2.0) profile.

So far it's stable and not facing any stability issue.

recently amd cpus were burnt on asrock mbs ... so watch out ... and tdps are getting highs ...
It is not the TDP... I think is because all the things inside the CPU are too close together... if there is a minor flaw.. any extra high boost in voltage that is set beyond the safe range can easily fry it...

Had a scare during the 7800X3D time.. now it is 9800X3D, I was on Asus motherboard back then.. luckily nothing happened...

i never overclock becos it may make the pc unstable.. wait i do some important stuff then the PC hangs, can bang wall.. I prefer stability over speed

My current 32G DDR3, AMD FX8350 with Gigabyte 990A motherboard already more than 12 years.. still going strong with windows 11 25H2

There’s a power efficiency curve… u keep increasing the power the performance increase is dropping as u push more power

now is common to underclock/undervolt

most chips are actually running at near max voltage/clock bin out of box, cos of marketing, competition. no point missing out on "free" performance they can sell

remember the celeron 300a beating p3-450 and the s**t ton of threads here on overclocking
