Indonesia is always under-rated as a tourist destination. There is more to Indonesia than Bali: http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/t...time-need-advice-recommendations-2148123.html
It will not be fair to state that Indonesia is uninteresting for a nation of over 17000 islands, and span such a great surface area of the planet, and many cultures.
I liked Central Java, for Yogyakarta, Mt Merapi, Borobudur and Prambanan. Surabaya in East Java was a little tame, but there was the spectacular Mt Bromo. Nearby, we have resort islands like Bintan and Batam.

If you enjoy hiking, I recommend visiting some volcanoes in Indonesia.

"A consideration is the tourist season and Bali can get very crowded in August and Septembre and again at Christmas and New Year. Australians also visit during school holidays in early April, late June and late September, while domestic tourists from elsewhere in Indonesia visit during national holidays. Outside these peak seasons, Bali can be surprisingly quiet and good discounts on accommodation are often available."

if you want to avoid the crowds, just skip kuta.
the other places are fine all year round.

That's right, avoid Kuta and the party belt there. Seminyak, the east coast and the interior of the island are always less crowded.

Yes. Do visit indonesia if you are looking for a place close to nature :) But if you are willing to travel further, China has far even more collections of nice scenic places.

i been to Bandung recently. Its near to Jakarta, so many Jakartas flock there.
traffic is horrible, everywhere also people, even their mountain also congested.
the roads chock full of push carts.

Bandung go for the Factory outlets nia. 2 main volcanoes, Tengkuban and Kawah Putih. Tengkuban they say can drive to the crater. Kawah is full of sulfur smell :)
Forget about the volcano. they are all too crowded, not very "natural"

hope to visit Borneo, Sulawesi and Kalimantan islands in future

one thing i dont like indonesia is the racial issue. keep getting scared kena robbed. as chinese, you will stand out, cos many indoniesian chinese also dun look like regular chinese

One of the best country to be for scuba diving. Been to Bali, Manado, Lembeh, Komodo, Derawan, Palu, and planning to go Raja Ampat and Ambon. And sites not in plan yet like Gorontalo, Lombok and many more.
