Is it harmful to do hard resets?

Hi guys,

Somehow I feel that after doing a hard reset of iPhones and iPads.. My device function snappier..

However, I read that you should only do hard resets as a last resort....

Does any bro know if this is harmful to our iPhones and iPads ?

Hold down the top power button and the home button simultaneously until the Apple logo reappears on the screen.

This requires around 10-15 seconds.

This only reset the iOS no the hardware.. If anything wrong with software just restore, it won't impac your hardware..

Although Apple itself calls it Reset, Sleep + Home buttons press is a sort of a restart - kills/shuts down everything and reboots. It doesn't really reset anything - options/settings do not get reset to default values or anything. Devices may appear to be running more smoothly.

The Reset options inside Settings do reset things, "Erase All Content And Settings" option even deletes everything include your user content - this is probably even more "last resort" than restart.

Further more, you can also restore (wipes out everything and along the way upgrades to the latest version of iOS), the really true "last resort" (assuming you set up as new device, instead of restoring from a backup after system restore).

So can we say that the power+ home button reset is equivalent to a power off- power on restart?

I used to issue the command 'reboot' via terminal, works fine for me.
