is it necessary for keyboard protector?

i just bought macbook pro and lovin it so much. Do u guys put on keyboard protector or naked? i prefer to be naked coz the typing more smoother. WIll the keyboard wording will get faded after like 3 years down the road? and is it necessary also for applying screen protector ?

Never use either keyboard protector or screen protector for all my Macbook Pro or Air.

Does the keyboard become very smooth, (a new keyboard is kind of matte finish, but after using sometime it becomes very shiny). ?

I think the problem was much worse when MacBooks still came in white. Back then, discoloration was always a problem for the white keyboard buttons and the palm rest areas. Now that MacBooks come with black keyboards and aluminum outer casing, discoloration hasn't been a big problem at all. Ultimately, it does get smoother after a few months or years, but it doesn't affect the user experience, in my opinion. I dislike the rough, rubbery feel of a keyboard protector. It just doesn't feel quite right.

agreed with bro Clause. My previous macbook air, after been using 2 years, the black keyboard tends to looks shiny a bit but the wording still intact. I just worry if the words might fade.

I protect everything so it still looks as gd as new even after using it for nearly 2 years.

Use a pro on my wireless keyboard (imac), and though it is now fairly yellow after half a year, the keys underneath are still bright, clean white.

THen again, I realise that with the protector, I don't bother ensuring my fingers are perfectly clean.

I see, well for those people that really worried about for the resale value, does a macbook pro resale value really that high? (compare with a shiny keyboard or not).

I'm someone that rarely sell their used laptop. Its kind piling in one corner and most of them are old and still usable. Lol.

Then I guess I don't really need to worry much about the discoloration and etc? After all I bought the Mac for the good look and nice feeling. Hahaha.

I don't think there is anyone here that is arguing. We are just giving opinion and me, just asking about the resale value. We are just discussing it, that's all because there might be some people that want to use the keyboard protector because they worried that the keyboard become shiny and etc.

well,me too discussing and don't mean anything but experience told me when buyer saw shinny keys they usually turn down the offer.

If you use moshi clearguard, it won't feel rubbery. I agree that those clear china silicon protectors feel rubbery.

The moshi clearguard keyboard protector does not affect the typing experience as it is very thin. Neither is in sticky. Moreover, it does not affect the backlight of the keyboard, unlike those cheap china keyboard protectors.
