You are what you want to be. Why let society determine what you should be?
I am trying to gauge how nature or at least our society norm will treat such males

whether they are into toughening him by bullying him to get a bounce back of confidence
or
try to workaround by putting them in some corner

society works on macro level, not on individuals... you're just a small part of statistics... :frown:

yes it affects everyone, but how the society perceive them?

is it being weak, bullied, or defective?
Sinkapore society still rather conservative as a whole, and the pressure to conform to gender norms still rather overwhelming unfortunately, so yesh, moi would say our society would indeed view such males as "weak" or "defective". But nevertheless, moi would say be yourself and try not to let other peepur's perception affect chiu, and if chiu are feeling down, don't be afraid to speak up, be it speaking to a professional or confiding in a close friend. Speaking from personal sexperience here :o

something I am trying to figure out is who actually invents the gender norms that people must conform with?

when people do not conform, what will they do or plan to do to them?

however macro level will also generate an overview of a norm that people has to conform or forcing others to conform

I don't believe that macro level is an overall cumulative opinions that generates a view, but instead there must be few individuals behind it that contributes to greater influence on enforcing the norm

for example male shouldn't wear FBT short, this is a common norm

but when a male wear an FBT short walking around, there will be few individuals whom are irritated to voice out that they are not following the norm

when we study clearly on such individuals, there must be a reason why they are irritated over others who do not follow their norm

norm is not born out of nothing, or a common sense will not come out of nowhere. in the case of FBT short I mention, it is probably because the short shows a bulge which intimidates other males whom felt their masculine pride is threaten

when we see this, humans have similarities with animals which has territorial or masculine awareness on surroundings and enforce their control over how other animals (in this case humans) to behave in their control regions
