Busy with life so haven't been upgrading my rig.

Can some pros reccomend what are the rigs like nowadays? Pricepoint? People still buying from Sim Lim or move online?

looks like to whole long list of am4 to upgrade to b4 and really big changes...
ur gpu also good...

if u wan which part individually, go SLS n choose.

Well, every1 have their own build to serve its purpose : for gaming, most ppl will go for AMD for the xtra FPS.
for work related n light gaming, ppl go for Intel. Ur 2080 still can run many games but if u have the budget, u can always go for 50xx Nvidia GPU. RAM most common now is 32GB or higher. For ur monitor, if u r still using 1080p 60Hz, its time to upgrade too. Can try 1440p to optimise the 50xx GPU.

The only thing is CPU is outdated by now.
Depending on your budget, upgrade to a second hand Ryzen 3700X
or brand new Ryzen 7 5700X.
But changing CPU will need BIOS update to support newer CPU.

Yes u can if u noe how to DIY. I oso buy online and DIY too. takes effort to recce and compare the prices. If not in a hurry, its always the better choice.

I had pondered this question, AM4 platform seemed to be good for quite a while, so I upped my main rig from a R9 3900X to a 5900X and was happy for a while. Then I'd been bombarded by posts about how good the X3D chips were, for games especially, so I took another look at my main rig and decided to upgrade.

No, I did not want an excellent CPU like the 5900X to go to waste or sold off, so I built another X570 rig around it with some spare stuff I had lying around (had spare 1500W PSU, 16GB and 32GB spare RAM, and the RX 6900XT - after upgrading to the RX 7900XTX). So it boiled down to whether I should get the 5800X3D or the 5700X3D, the latter was significantly cheaper, so I went with it.....so far, no regrets, the CPU is great for game and having played some of the newer games (like BM Wukong, DOOM TDA) I'd say my main rig is good enough for a couple more years at least. Same goes with my 2nd rig with the 5900X, but I use it more for some video and audio ripping.

As for OP, I'd suggest a simple upgrade to the 5700X/5800X/5700X3D would suffice for a couple of years, and snagging a pair of DDR4 16GB RAM would certainly help in the long run.

Unfornuately DDR4 have phase out, so to buy brand new DDR4 in current time.
You be paying alot like $150 for 16GB.

ddr 4 i think its ok to buy 2nd hand... its lifetime warranty.
i would like to get the 5700x3d or 5800x3d at reasonable price...
i think a few months back the 5700x3d on tb was like 200+

same here.. coz i am not always aiming for the best i feel that am4 is still strong going in its own way..
and becase ts is till on the am4 platform i very much believe that it is still worth to get a better cpu to carry on...

What do you have now, bro? I'm sticking with my 5700X3D and 5900X rigs for at least a couple more years...maybe even longer! As long as they can keep up with newer game engines, with good framerates....I'd be good with that.

i am on am4 5600 B550 still works well for me... i only game at 1080p due to my gpu and monitor and of coz my budget....

The Ryzen 5600 is fine for 1080p. I continued to use the 5600G for more than a year after I bought the 5800X3D. Only did the upgrade after I went from 1080p to 4K.
