I know with an exchange rate of 1:3 it's about 2.5 times cheaper than petrol in Singapore.

But if you factor in CC discount (Esso's 21%), the toll you have to pay in ($12?) and the smile points you get to accumulate (that can be used to change for vouchers), how much are you actually saving?

Anyone did the math?

It's only worth if pumping more than 20litre

To siaolangs: don't need to tell me how much you can earn by not going to jam at the causeway but continue driving grab,OT,buy singaporepools etc :)

Petrol save $30, food save $20, massage save $30, car wash save $10, randomgroceries save $10-50 = $100++.

Not paying taxes to PAP = priceless.

So you prefer to pay tax in Malaysia?
Sales tax (to replace their GST), Toll fee, etc?

Guess your best choice for you is to give up ID here and migrate to Malaysia.

That's right, if just the fuel then is not worth consider also time spend, miles you travel there and back, toll fee, etc. Also not to forget fuel is different, eg. They are on octane 97 vs ours at 98 etc.

This is assuming you go in with almost empty and pump full tank for a regular car

That's very true- but how much exactly do you save?

What sort of groceries you buy that you can save alot?

Car wash with spray on wax $10? Singapore probably about $30?

Then take total time you spend at customs (assuming you go during weekends)- what's the benefit?

Maybe gotta post this in the money section :s13:

How much value u get from going to jb depends on a person character. If u are those type who like to nua at home, even $100 saving they will not feel worth it.
If u are those who like to go out on weekend to visit cafe, do shopping or love food, even $10 saving they will feel worth it.
Can argue till cows come home also no answer.

The bigger saving are baby pampers, milk power and woman cosmetic.
Normal car wash with interior vacuum is about 10myr.
If u know the timing to go on weekend, time spend at custom can be 30 mins for in and out excluding traveling from home to custom and vice versa.
