Do they check your bags during enlistment?
Since i heard there is lots of admin time for ptp batch, will they allow mp3 players?

are thefts common? and do we still need to bring locks in?

Nowadays even smartphone also can bring in (no tablets though), so shouldn't be a problem I suppose. And yes, just bring a num/padlock for your cabinet. You can never be sorry for being on the safe side right?

What if the head+wire is not detachable from the power bank itself? Mine comes with a USB and micro-USB connector each, non-removable. Some more it's not the sort with USB OTG function built into it, confirm no way to transfer data.

I think you should be more concerned about the consequences of them spotting it rather than the chances of them spotting it.

I think it can be a chargeable offence if they decide to go down that path.

If it's non detachable, you there wouldn't be any parts that look like the USB head ain't it?

well, they scan all the recruits bags at the ferry terminal using a X-ray machine, so they can find it if they want.

but I see so far, many people bring in nothing happen so far, but could be diff coy diff standards.

if u worry, dun bring in any cables until your next book in and see what happens lor.

also this is just bmt, when u go unit, will be different again.

what's the black and yellow part at the top
That's the contact points for the USB connector for charging only via USB port/adapter etc (you know la), that's why only the power contacts are there. No data contacts.

It doesn't really matter whether it can or cannot carry data. as long as there's a USB head connector it's by right not allowed.

Also nobody (i believe) can tell on just visual inspection whether can carry data or not.

that black and yellow thing looks like a full size usb connector.
Yup it is, sans the data pins.

That's a good point, I'll ask CMPB about it. Though if they're willing to search on Google, they'll know that the two shiny contacts you pointed out on the extreme ends are the GND and +5V pins. There's no way to carry data without power supplied too, neither can the power pins carry data, if that's their worry.

Well think about it this way, let's take it that MINDEF agrees (I don't think CMPB is the policy maker for this kind of issue as CMPB is "central ManPower base"), whether they google is not the issue here, I believe they have the people and expertise who are more than capable to tell whether those USB can transfer data.

Don't you think it's the implementation that will be an issue? Wouldn't those people who are responsible for ensuring no unauthorised items such as USB looking thingy err on the side of caution to just issue a blanket no go to protect their arse? Think about the practicality of that.
