Is my pc overheating ?

I notice that when I play fortnite my frame will go from 120 to 39 and will only go back up to 90 for like 1 sec . I tried lowering my setting and nothing change I don’t think that it is my hardware since I have a 2080 and it seem like fortnite is the only game giving problems since every other game well run smoothly my pc Is an alienware. Does anyone know what the problem and know how to fix it?

- Update BIOS to latest there is a latest BIOS launch recently
https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/product-support/product/alienware-aurora-r8-desktop/drivers- Do a clean install of WIndows with drivers from Dell (*Not reset)

The PC is few years old, opt to try as it could be thermal throttling.

- Before you do a clean install of Windows, start the USB bootable.
Click repair your PC than click troubleshoot than command prompt.
Type "diskpart" than " list disk" check which is the OS drive which is usually drive 0
than type "select disk 0" or whichever the drive is than type "clean."
If you are not comfortable or confuse with this step than skip but this is to clear the drive
first before installing Windows.
The other method will be removing just the partition where OS is on.
However as this is a branded PC it may cause issue since branded PC the OS are factory
imaged thus there are other partitions on it which maybe required.
- Install Windows

If you are not tech savvy or fear will cause problem than bring to a shop let them do it for you.

I help you to filtered the TimeSpy score in SG as per above link, can you try to run the benchmark and check if your score will be similar to the list?

From what you described so far I think your system is alright.

Just 1 game behaviour not matching to YouTube video benchmark does not mean your system have issue.

Perhaps if you are interested, you can slowly fine tune your system for better GPU and CPU performance however this will take sometime because of trial and error testing.

I have already update the driver and there is no change in performance

I notice that the Usage on both the cpu and gpu are strange as gpu usage are 70 to 80% and never go up to 100% or 90 cpu usage are anywhere from 19% to 90% it would keep going up and down

can share the link or graph of your TimeSpy for reference?

it seems your system need some fine tuning.

normally for intel the cpu usage graph should show straight line (ideal) basis, it is possible for GPU graph fluctuate when it is not regulate.
