Is the old 85W Mag2 adapter problematic?

Hi I have a mid 2014 MacBook Pro 15". Seldom use until last year.

In Oct 2016 after my trip back which I left my MacBook.adapter on but not charging and it blew off damaged.

Earlier last week, it again blew off and the service centre guy told me that it is common for him to see the 85W adapter blowing off.

Did anyone face this issue? Should I just get a spare 65W adapter as backup as my laptop warranty is ending in Jan 2018.

No. I buy from SLS OEM. Can use $40.

Yes I have a similar issue twice and exchanged it with A Lab.

One came with MacBook purchase and one bought separately.

I'm still using mine with my mid 2015 rMBP and so far so good, except for the cable management retractable tabs, one side already broke off long ago.
