Is There a Need to Upgrade This Comp?

Hi guys, I just repaired by cousin's old comp. Turns out the HDD is not working thats old.


its just an old PII X2 555 CPU
1 x 4GB DDR3 1600
5770 1GB card
500GB HDD

The only game he play is DOTA and WC3 only. Other than that its surf net and watch youtube. Is there a need to upgrade the computer? I am running Win7 and it seems ok, no lag or anything.

I am thinking might as well wait for whole comp to spoil then upgrade. His monitor very small 17" 1280 x 1024..... very ancient.

Btw, do you think the GPU for A10-6800K is fast enough for DOTA and WC3 (I think also got CS:source)?

Maybe next time upgrade I just get him onboard graphics will do. Save some $$$. Don't need graphics card.

The A10 6800k can be used for DOTA and WC3 without a need of a GPU.

If the HDD is faulty, you might want to replace it with a SSD. Otherwise, like what the others have mentioned, continue using the computer till malfunction.

Actually I have replace it with a 500GB. Cause I have a spare drive just give it to him.

OK, thanks for the advice. The comp is running fine now. So I guess just use it till spoil. No point upgrading.
