Sorry for trashing the thread op, but if you really want top tier just ditch your RAM and go for the smallest CAS latency with at least 3600 MHz (or higher) speed.

Sorry for brutally honest, but I have to say this is the worst recommendation I've seen so far.

I always challenge the definition of top tier. How long can you stay at the top tier? Also, do you need a top tier desktop in the first place? Be happy with what you have, considering there are a lot of people that cannot afford even a simple PC.

Realistically the earliest can build diy pc will be after ** in June. Plenty of time for things to pop up and memory prices still quite volatile.

I suggest you give yourself a 1k or min $500 buffer from the budget just in case.

It is highly recommended to get a high refresh rate monitor like what you mentioned. You will enjoy the horsepower of a 2080Ti, achieving high frame rates matched with high a refresh rate monitor for an absolute buttery smooth gaming experience.

I am currently running most AAA games between 110 - 180 FPS at 1440p@165hz. You're gonna appreciate it a lot especially with First Person Shooter Genres.

On my 4K TV@120Hz, I am getting 80 - 100 FPS and the game play is really smooth still!

For Graphic Card, 2080Ti is the top dog for now, if you are not in a rush till Q3 or Q4, Amphere should be out and will be the next top dog. Any Custom Cooler 2080Ti would be good already, cheapest would prolly be Palit. Balanced in Price and Performance, MSI would be a good option.

For NVMe's & SSDs, Samsung really makes the best and most reliable drives, can't go wrong with them.

May I ask what is the spec which you have in mind?

You say you want 1440p but your this build looks like it's for 4k gaming.

1440p can be done in half the price.

Yes the Ryzen 9 3950X is the top CPU. You will need to tweak some things down to fit a 5K budget,.. look at my profile and just as guidance that cost about 6.5K excluding monitor and peripherals.

If your aiming for 1440p gaming then don't spend on a rig similar to mine as my intention is for 4K. You can easily get a 1440p gaming machine for under 3K so no point overspending.

Impossible. If you're playing AAA titles at 1440p@165hz with that kind of fps, you're either playing on low settings or a AAA title from 2015. Rtx 2080ti struggles to achieve 4k@60 in the newest AAA titles. 1440p@165 requires much more juice than 4k@60. I'm not sure where you got your numbers from.

With the current situation surrounding the world, it will likely not be until Q4 or beyond when we will get them so it's a bit tricky. At the same time its not really worth to pay full price for a 2080Ti that is now towards its end of life at this point. My suggestion will be to either find a good deal on a new gpu or look at used ones for the interim and sell to upgrade later whenever Ampere comes around (this is also what i chose to do while riding the wait out).

Cpu - 9900k is fine but if you can get a 9900ks, even better. If you're planning to overclock, then the cooling considerations will be affected. If you don't want to tinker too much, get the highest clock speed out of the box (9900ks) and do some under volting to keep temperatures at bay (below 70 at load)

Motherboard : don't go with asus. They are always priced one tier higher and give one tier lower value. For z390, get a $400-450ish motherboard like a gigabyte aorus master. Great vrm and pretty much all the features you will actually use.

Ram: 32 gb of 3200mhz cl16 (or cl15) is fine

Gpu : as of now, if you intend to go 1440p@144hz, you most definitely need 2080ti. No contest. Get the triple fan models like strix or msi trio or gigabyte models. Pls don't buy em at retail prices as it's a ripoff. Try to get a good deal or a used one for under $1500-1600

Main drive: nvme 1-2tb

Secondary drive: 2tb sata is sufficient. Add more ordinary hard drives if need more space

Psu : 850w-1000w is quite more than sufficient. Go for better build psu like seasonic prime or evga g3.

Case: is a full tower really necessary? Unless you have all the space in the world. A phanteks evolv x seems great?

Cooler: aio coolers are generally worse than air coolers for absolute cooling performance. They cool decently well but more for asthetics. So your choice is fine.

I have no specific preference when it comes to game titles.

As for the GPU, I believe I might look around for the best deal. However, at this moment, I have not decided on the specific brand of the 2080Ti.

Lots,.. you can go for a mid motherboard, 32Gb of RAM, might even want to consider a 2080 super rather than the 2080 Ti. You could also consider the Ryzen 7 3700X.

You will need to watch a few motherboard reviews on youtube but IF I remember correctly, Gigabyte do good mid tier motherboards which will save you a lot.

Wait for Z490 since the Z390 is already outdated now. And paying for a 9900K makes no sense at this point when the 11th Gen is going to be out for possibly cheaper. 9700k price for 10900k something along those lines.

I myself am using the Z390 Aorus Master board and it's a bloody awesome board. Excellent thermals and great stability when overclocked. Get the Aorus Z490 Master to pair with the 10900K if you want to go the Intel route. Best match based on what you're looking for.

Agree on ur setup, but i wouldn't recommend taichi as there are reports from users that the bios is crap, or temp is high etc etc...(not provided that u are running watercooling)

Even though taichi is on par with master on the price but i would highly recommend master instead

Well based on my gaming experience, I am getting 140 - 165 Fps on BFV and Apex. I get 120 - 135 Fps on Red Dead 2 all on 1440p. Settings on Ultra, Ray Tracing Off as I don't see much benefits.

I don't play much First Person Shooter on my 4k TV cos it's too huge. I get 70 - 80 fps for Jedi Fallen Order and Red Dead 2. GTA V 90 - 100 fps, Apex I tried, I get 110 - 120 fps, Fifa 20 its a simpler engine, I get 200+ Fps, all on 4K.

I am not sure where you are getting your assumptions from, have you tried gaming on such displays as I see you are using a 60 hertz monitor? If you have read reviews, it only give you so much at the point in time, games and graphic drivers do get updates for optimisation.
