recently bought a casing

has total 6 casing fans with a mesh front panel and the CPU cooler also has a fan drawing air from the front.

red is for exhaust and blue is for intake

1. is it too much? note tht i have a graphics card below the cpu

2. i notice tht the top fan near to the front is exhausting cool air, shld i remove it?

The back fan should suck in air, for the hsf have air to pull. turn the hsf to direct air flow up if u are using tower hsf. Exhaust all air up. Hot air rises. Check your temp before the change and after change. You should see drop in temps. Mine drop 6 to 10 degrees

i'd imagine the air flowing totally front to back wud be ideal for air coolers...

Do u think the top fan nearer to the front is snatching cold air from the cpu cooler?
i imagine so
if air enter & exit only short distance away - wat (or is there) component u want tat air to cool?

I prefer to blow the air out of the rad the other way.
The picture you put will add more heat into the main compartment

HSF: heat sink fan aka the fan mounted to ur cpu

Does your top case have any mesh filter? if so make the fan as intake instead. If not you can just remove the top 2 fans to ensure a positive airflow so lesser dust in case.

Go with positive airflow for less dust, more intake fans then exhaust. Example 2 intake fans at the front and 1 exhaust fan at the rear.

Your gpu blow air out or take on air?

:s13::s22: shld be take in ba didn't realize, never bother, my temps: CPU 40-42 when on 80% CPU load, gpu around 50 when in games
Anyway not some hardcore PC enthusiast like some here, temps seem ok, PC running fine can riaos

it is not about space, try changing the fan direction on the rad and the front case. the back of the case will be air intake.
The space is small... corsair Carbide spec m2. The radiator can mount at the top but the tubes can't bend to fit the CPU, as for fan direction... What I have now is fine for temps

ok, i see. If it get warm, just change the fan direction without changing the position of the rad. you need to brush those fins once a month as dust will build up.

currently my old system use Hydro Series H80i v2, will be moving hdds, gpu to new system and new casing. as for the cooling, it shall be custom water cooling.

how about top? 2 intake at the front, 1 exhaust at the back...3 intake / exhaust at top? and why does this setup reduce dust?

If your top case no mesh filter then only option is exhaust fans setup, but generally is optional for positive air pressure setup unless you going for negative air pressure.

This thread has got me curious. Did i add too many fans? So let's find out.

My PC has a similar set up as OP diagram.

Although the first 2x 140mm fans at the front intake have a 280mm radiator.

First, I tested the system with the top 2 exhaust fans ON. Then tested with the top 2 exhaust fans OFF.

When I unplugged the two fans on top, I also closed off the top exhaust with the included panels!

Lets start with Ambient Temperatures

Outside PC - 26.7 °C | Inside PC - 28.0 °C

On to the CPU Stress Test

First, I fired up AIDA64 and ran it for about 5 mins to see what the temperatures are in the case plus the CPU temps in HWiFO/CAM. Only 5 mins because the thermometer will switch off after 5 mins.

Fans ON | Fans Off
CPU (Tdie) 72.3°C vs 72.5°C
Liquid Temp - 39°C vs 40°C
VRM T1 - 88°C vs 96°C
VRM T2 - 72°C vs 76°C
Inside Case - 33.3°C vs 34.5°C

Note: From this not so scientific data, I can conclude that having the exhaust on top to push the warm air out has helped the VRM Temperatures much more than other components. CPU temperatures aren't affected as much because it is cooled by a liquid cooler and an increase in temperatures inside the case doesn't affect it.

Now to the GPU!

For the GPU, I ran a total of 15 mins. The 1080Ti is overclocked and overvolted to the max I could go. +50 MHz Core, +450Mhz Mem, +100% Voltage, +117% Power Limit.

Fans ON | Fans Off
GPU Clocks 1987MHz vs 1974MHz
GPU Temp - 71°C vs 77°C
CPU Temp - 45.8°C vs 49.6°C
Inside Case - 38.5°C vs 40.0°C

Note: GPU is the biggest contributor to heat in the system as it pushes hot air into the case. With the top exhaust fans ON, the hot air is quickly pushed out of the system, giving the GPU cooler air to breath instead of the hot air circulating in the system.

So, conclusion. No, it is not overkilling to put that many fans. Haha.
