Hi guys,

It's the first time I'm building a pc. Could you please help me look into my build and see if there is anything i should change.

CPU: Intel Core i5-4460
MB: Gigabyte Z97-D3H
GPU: MSI GTX970
SSD: Samsung 840 EVO 120GB SSD SATA3
HDD: WD 1TB Caviar Blue 7200
RAM: G.SKILL RIPJAWS-X 1600MHZ ( 4GBx2 ) CL9
PSU: Seasonic G series 550w
Case: Fractal Design R4 White

I'm planning to use it for gaming and other general stuff, and i prefer it to be quieter.

i have a budget of about 1.7k. Please advise. Thank you!!

can try this

MB: MSI B85 g43 gaming
SSD: Samsung 840 EVO 250GB SSD SATA3

the 'Z97' usually for overclocking CPU. The CPU must also be the K series to do this.

Since you not overclocking, then H97 or B85 will be fine..

I think main difference between H97 and B85 are the ports and raid capability etc..

you can google 'wiki LGA1150' for the difference to see if you need these capabilities.. My upcoming build is about the same as yours and I'm getting B85

are there any other alternative boards to consider besides the MSI H97 Gaming 3?
