if need to change a lump of foreign currency? Or shall i just use cash and change when at that country...
I have used Transferwise when I was studying abroad and I have not encountered any issues. The money will reach your account earlier or on time as stated in the order page. Personally, I dislike the idea to carry a lot of money with me so I would prefer to use their service.
If you decided to use Transferwise to transfer SGD, you need to setup an account and go down to their office in Raffles Place to verify your identity.
Can work with different name account? Not able to get a bank account in the countries but my trusted friends there can help with his account.
Yes, can. I've done it before. Transferred to my very good friend's bank account in his name from my bank account in Singapore, then took foreign cash from him when I arrived for my visit.
Used it before and as MrConfused said - no issue there. Previous procedure was to head down to Raffles Place but they've now worked with MAS to implement electronic verification instead, so that's no longer required.
If you're interested, here's my referral link below. Nabs you a free/discounted transfer.
