Hi

Everytime there is a major cinematic realise there will be jokers starting threads with spoilers in the title. Even if it is a fake spoiler it does ruin the whole experience for movie goers.

Spoilers in the thread can still be avoided by not going in, but this type of spoilers are unavoidable unless the users quit the forum.

Thanks.

Nothing wrong IMO.

If wanna totally avoid spoilers altogether maybe can stay off the internet?

Being an open forum, topics and discussions about a blockbuster movie is unavoidable.

It’s irked and frowned upon by the forum community for sure however there’s no specific forum rule which states that - perhaps infractable under forum nuisance - if spoilers are deliberate and excessive.

An example for you -
Tread topic: Lip Lai see my new hoot.
Thread body: Tony Stark is Iron man (movie spoiler)
Result: infractable

Thread topic:
Iron man X
Thread body: Spoilers...
Result: Acceptable

discuession is ok, as long as its not in the title imo.
that way we can see what the discussion is about and just avoid going into it.

if the spoiler is in the topic/title itself

example: topic: why xxx die in xxx!?!

how are we suppose to avoid that?

do you really want the forum to be empty during a major release, and is that really possible? :(

if the spoiler is in the title itself, thread will be thrash and offender infracted.
Consider this a warning

Thanks,

Why two mods give contradicting replies?

For example, if thread goes:

Discuss: Do you think Ironman deserves to die in Avengers?

I don't see it infringing any forum rules. It still falls under a discussion topic.

If anyone truly wants to stay away from spoilers, the only way is to stay off the internet.

Hope someone with higher authority could shed some light and provide more clarity on this topic due to contrasting replies from different moderators.

Thanks.

There is an intent to borderline spoiler - should get infracted too.

Should put spoiler in front: lets discuss what happened in movie. This is acceptable.

Do not behind lexicon/words/semantics.

Spoilers are not illegal leh. Just because they are unpopular don't mean they aren't allowed. Some people like myself for example, enjoy reading the synopsis of a film before watching it in the theatres.

Understand. But please kindly refer to Moderator Intrinion's remark above:

Nuisance or not IS subjective. As much as there are people who find spoilers a nuisance, there will be those who appreciate them in kind. To cite an example, some may find threads on dieting and exercising a nuisance, but others appreciate the threadstarters' efforts.

I will patiently await an admin or forum boss to provide his judgment.

Intrinion's reply is perfectly consistent with what i say, if you put a spoiler tag in title, its fine.

Moderators are here precisely to make that judgement call
you can disagree but we will still take action as per warnings given above.

Hope that clarifies,
c

You know that examples are non exhaustive right? :s13:

If it’s a movie about iron man and the thread title is
iron man movie

It’s perfectly fine.

If it’s
Kosongice is not iron man
It’s infractable cause it’s a spoiler on the thread title

It’s simple. Anything that’s gives all or part of the plot away, even if it’s untrue, we won’t condone it.

Trying to spoil another person’s experience is and will be considered as a forum nuisance.

It’s the same stand we take during the Star Wars movie releases as well.
