i think some buy other conti make because some price you might get bigger car or bigger engine or higher Hp/torque..whatever
and also.. same price might be all the latest tech thrown in .. but merc/bmw ..is barebone car.. havent add in all the fancy tech

tiagong last time got gearbox transmission issues .. that's one of the biggest repair item chiu can kana on a car

if me, i top up a bit get Toyota better ... no maintenance issue

because rarely seen china taxis using domestic brands

so VW should be reliable?

Conti cars in China got 2 kinds - one is JV, the other is imported. Like VW, it’s a JV with FAW. Of course you can import directly from Germany also, just like SG. But the price difference is a lot. A6 produced locally costs half that of an imported one.

plus those JV ones probably are produced slightly differently. Taxis fall under this

Probably their 2L models with higher torque. The dry gearbox can take only 250 or 300Nm torque iirc

The fittings might look different but the mechanical components are similar. The seat motor for example. Skoda, VW, Audi.... all the same lol.
