Hi guys, just to check with you guys whether it is normal for a desktop to have recertified WD HDD if purchase from local shop from sim lim square and never RMA it before.
Recently went to a friend house to check on his computer, he mention that the HDD is having a lot of noise.
Scan the HDD and found lots of bad sectors, took out the HDD saw it's a WD Black that comes with 5 years warranty. Weird though its a recertified one.
He still have his partial receipt as the other side was torn away, still have the receipt number. I called the particular shop and request for them to resend the receipt of the purchase and mention to them the issue with the HDD. The receipt that they email back to me after chasing them for a day, they edited the model of the HDD to a newer model one. So how am I suppose to RMA it when the model of the HDD is not the exact one?
Sounds fishy tbh.....
Checked online thru WD portal saw that the recertified WD HDD is already out of warranty due on 2016 but purchase was made during 2013, should have at least till 2018?
Trying to get WD to approve the change of the purchase date currently, not sure whether they will approve so I can request RMA for this particular HDD.
Any thoughts? Anyone?
