Looking forward to seeing the options available with this B550 chipset. Been contemplating to get a board with the X570, but don't like the fact that it consumes quite a lot of power and requires an active cooler.

can just stick to your X470 if you don't need PCIe 4.0

I'm using an X370 with no issues.

I have no issues with my current X470, so it is a keeper for me. I am looking out for a HTPC, and was looking out for an ITX motherboard that I can get. Reason for looking at the X570 is because I was looking for a board that have DP 1.4, which all B450 ITX boards I saw only comes with DP 1.2. PCIE 4.0 is pointless to me currently.

Amd not planning to support Ryzen 4000 on older boards.
Those buying B450, better wait for B550

Itx B550 with 3700x would be great

Don't really game nowadays, don't need expensive CPU. :D
Was planning to buy a B450, guess I'll wait for the B550 that support PCIe 4.0. Hopefully by then, more PCIe 4.0 SSD available for cheap.

Take the chart with a pinch of salt.

According to it, X370 is not supported by Ryzen 3000 but see ---->

https://community.amd.com/community/gaming/blog/2020/05/07/the-exciting-future-of-amd-socket-am4

Q: What about (X pre-500 Series chipset)?
A: AMD has no plans to introduce “Zen 3” architecture support for older chipsets. While we wish could enable full support for every processor on every chipset, the flash memory chips that store BIOS settings and support have capacity limitations. Given these limitations, and the unprecedented longevity of the AM4 socket, there will inevitably be a time and place where a transition to free up space is necessary—the AMD 500 Series chipsets are that time.

Depend if want to play lottery with B450 or older boards.

Based on the chart, it mentioned that the 500 series chipsets will support future Ryzen chips. However what they did not mention is that Ryzen 5xxx will not be using AM4 socket. In other words, you will be buying the B550 only for the current Ryzen 3xxx and the upcoming 4xxx series.

FroztSpectre, it does support 3000. Else why the release if X570 are for 3000.
