Keyword: Flash memory
That is suggesting if flash memory is big, you can support all the cpu.

Yeah, the limitation with support is basically due to the BIOS ROM size. Sadly most motherboard makers uses 128Mb, while higher end ones will have 256Mb. With the release of the Ryzen 3xxx, there were already a lot of board struggling to support them and have to scale back on the BIOS GUI in order to accomodate the new CPU support. They are probably out of tricks now since it is a hardware limitation on older boards.

gigabyte users can expect cut down bios...

Based on the chart, it mentioned that the 500 series chipsets will support future Ryzen chips. However what they did not mention is that Ryzen 5xxx will not be using AM4 socket. In other words, you will be buying the B550 only for the current Ryzen 3xxx and the upcoming 4xxx series.

I'm looking to build a gaming rig (1440p) that will last me around 4-5 years, I doubt I will upgrade the CPU but maybe the GPU if the GTX 30XX series are launched. So if I go with a Ryzen 3600 (max 3600X), which mobo series should I get to last me those 4-5 years as I will still be on the AM4 socket.

What I mean is that my future proofing is very unlikely a CPU upgrade, if there is a need I would rather change the mobo/cpu and probably almost everything.

So should I go for a B450, B550 or X570?

FroztSpectre, it does support 3000. Else why the release if X570 are for 3000.

Whoa why you so fast.
I post already, re-read and saw it doesnt support 3000 series with radeon graphics. Normal 3000 series support. Then deleted within 1 minute. Still kena pickup by you lol.

X570 now.
If no hurry B550 in Jun.
But some X570 prices around $250-300, B550 should range $200-250 mark.

I was thinking of a "cheaper" x570 board. The upcoming MSI X570 MAG Tomahawk is suppose to be priced at 200 USD.

U can go for Ryzen 7 CPU with X570 mobo now, it can last you 5 years without being a bottleneck on the current GPU when u upgrade down the road.

by the time the Ryzen 3000 series become a bottleneck, the mobo will be too old to support the next CPU launched by AMD in future.

For a Ryzen 5, if you can wait, B550 should be good enough. Since you are not expecting to change CPU, there is no need to worry about future support. If you can't wait, then either B450 or X570 are fine too. The key benefit of X570 is really the PCI-E 4.0, which I still don't think will be a problem for most next gen graphic cards.

At most they will just drop support for older Ryzen models. Since AMD mentioned that X570 will support up to Ryzen 4xxx, Gigabyte will need to accommodate these new CPUs.

If you are not in a hurry to get a PC, then no harm waiting. There are major transitions this year, so I feel it may be worth the wait.

Why all those mini-ITX mobo don't include an additional Type C Internal Key A 20-pin Header beside the USB3.1 header?
Many SFF case have this Type C connector. If you use the 19pin USB3.1 internal header for the panel USB port, then additional type C no header to connect to.:(

Its quite odd considering that B550 is supposed to be the budget chipset. These high end models basically just negates the definition of budget. If they are too costly, wouldn't it be better to get a mid range X570 instead?:s22:
