what has politics got to do with planning a holiday?

of cos there is...

when the issue was first reported in the press at the beginning of this year, loads of chinese people working in japan went to protest and march in front of APA hotels all over Japan...

although this protest has died down, the ceo has never apologised and still insist on having his book in every room in his hotel... wait till the next chinese protest to see more fireworks... I won't hold my breath for 2020...

I disagree with you as I am not from China and therefore, do not feel the same outrage. however, you have the right to your opinion...and thanks for taking the time to explain

I will be at this hotel for a few days come Sep and Oct. Will see its smallness can surprise me or not :)

Oh..you will be surprised....it's really small...the APA I stayed in...the only place you can walk is from your bed to the door..you can't get beyond the dressing table..the dressing table actually touches the bed...so u can't actually walk through the rest of the room

Sorry to bump this thread. Wanna ask between Hotel Clubby near Sapporo and Mercure Hotel near Susukino, which one is a better location/hotel?

We have 3N there with a toddler so also considering from there to Airport which is more convenient .

Thanks.

Try Ibis Styles. I going to stay there this Nov.
Superior King Non-Smoking for $100 per room per night!
Price is very attractive and the room size is big for Japan hotels. (30sqm)
Location is near subway station.
Reviews very good and now charting no.2 hotels in Sapporo.

Put some marker for size comparisons please haha...

The smallest hotel we have ever stayed in is Nishi Shinjuku Hotel. The 'double bed' was actually a larger single bed. And the heater in the room gets too warm and difficult to control.

Size does matter when booking the rooms

Japan Semi-Double Bed = HK double beds .. only 4ft wide (vs standard 5ft Queen)

need to look for "Full Double" in Japan

Sorry to bump this thread up but i neex advice!
Facing a dilemma now.. I am considering to fly out from Tokyo to Sapporo for 3 days 2 night.

I have already done Tokyo city, thats why i thought of travelling out. And been wanting to visit Hokaiddo.

Would this be a good idea or should i just spend the time along Hakone, Yokohama etc...

ANA domestic flight from Haneda is about $275 Jetstar (fly from Narita) is around price of $170 (no baggage) what would be the recomendation?

Don't mind me asking, what would you like to achieve for those two nights in Hokkaido? There's so much to do over there. Won't it be better to stick to Honshu and head somewhere else like Tohoku or Kanazawa or somewhere with a ryokan in an onsen town instead?

Yeah. 2 nights only can't do much. I would go Hakone and stay 2 nights to relax.

Thanks for the advices! I was thinking to do a mini exploration of Sapporo city with the 3 days but feeling doubtful of the time and the need to rush (worrying about time, transport etc)

I guess it would be better to leave Hokkaido to a separate trip and will travel outside of Tokyo for now. I will research on the places as suggested, Hakone is a good idea as I like the relaxing kind of trip (although the stay in a Ryokan is very expensive)

Yeah like others have mentioned, not advisable to fly there and just do Sapporo as you cant do much in 2 full days, unless it is snowing there haha...

NO idea when you will be there but besides Tokyo itself, and if you think Hakone is expensive and do nothing, you may want to consider moving out to Yokohama (like you have mentioned) and also places like Mt Takao....
