Day 1 looks very rushed. You're arriving at noon. I'm not sure how long you'll spend shopping at the mall but Lavender cottage is actually closer to nantou so it's quite a distance from taichung.

Day 3 looks ok but might be quite packed. the tours are very touch and go, if you want to spend more time at Taroko you might need to rethink... are you planning to go to qixintan as well? I've got some photos here you can have a look at, see if you'd like to spend more time in Taroko. Some of the other guys mentioned it's enjoyable to do trekking along the gorge (easily 1-2 days) but if you're not big on nature touch and go should be okay...

The rest of your schedule looks okay. but why not do something else instead of shopping on day6? you can do keelung/yeliu/chiufen, or beitou (near damshui), or maokong.

- Jinguashi(Reach about 0930)
- Jiufen(Reach about 1130-1200)
- Taipei East Shopping Zone(Start from Zhongxiao Fuxing instead towards Zhongxiao Dunhua)
- XMD(Reach here around 7 also okay)

Day 7:
- Beitou or Wulai
- Danshui Old Street
- Fishermans Wharf + Lovers Bridge
- Shilin NM

Day 8:
This would depend on what time is ur departure flight. XMD nothing in the morning, also nth much at 12 noon..Taipei Underground Mall shops start business about 12noon.

this is the 2nd time im going taiwan. the last time i alrdy visit jiufen/jinguashi. so going to visit somewhere else other than taipei =)
i think for taichung i will not visit the lavender cottage. just eat and shop bah.

for hualien, im traveling from cingjing to hualien, will passby hehuanshan? after that go for tarok gorge ?

any driver to recommend ?

Yes there's bus from airport to Taichung. About 2.5 hrs ride.

Cingjing to hualien temporary unpassable due to landslide or what they call 土石流。 Better check again with ur driver.

Hopefully la. Coz this road and SuHua Highway always lots of problem with road condition.
Driver? I think u can check with those posting for driver. I am sure they can recommend u some. I travel without a personal driver.

actually when i went in April our driver/guide also told us about the road condition but assured us it was totally fine (???) and that later that week he was going to take the route from Hualien to Cingjing, saying it was perfectly safe, blah blah blah... we hadn't planned to go that route since we were going Kenting next so we never found out.

dunno if he was like really serious or just 敢敢来。。。。

for day 1 have u consider taking a hsr frm taoyuan? would be much faster. to book a cab for a round trip frm Taichung to lavender cottage costs Abt 1500nt when I checked with the minsu I stayed earlier this month. hope it helps

No need. But do take note: taichung hsr and taichung tra station is not nearby. And a shuttle service still takes like 30 mins, or even a train from HSR to TRA station will take just possible as long. I will recommend u to take bus from Taoyuan airport to Taichung TRA station.

Which ever you think you can get the train tix. Not much difference to me since u have decided to take the private transport to cut thru the 中央山脉。
