Seeked his advice and tested the batt voltage after parking the car and waited for itb to shut down itself, batt was tested showing 12.3v so the batt was healthy.

Somehow I can only deduce like bm cars, the car will detect 3rd party devices and cut off power to such devices as a safety measure, so power magic or not the car will cut off power to such devices. Now prolly u notice seldom seeing dvrs installed on beemers

Yes bro you are absolutely correct. Be it any car dvr or third party devices, for some BMW their ECU will cut off the power supply after 2 hours if any devices is detected to drain their car battery, some sort of safety draining feature of their ECU. For such scenario, we will normally advise to tap to ignition or just stay with the 2 hours surveillance.

For BMW, try wire the DVR or power magic device to the IU. Hope this helps.

go workshop and have them to install a on/off switch before UPC and DVR. This will cut power to everything once the switch is OFF.

just to add on..the on/off switch should be tap on the yellow wire and not the the red wire. As the yellow wire connect to the car battery.
If you tap the on/off switch to the red wire..even if you off the engine, the UPC is still drawing current from the battery.

Alternatively, you can get this: (it come with either 1 or 2 channels)

few days ago, encounter this strange behavior. The front camera suddenly sound out like having problem to write on the SD card...when driving.
It was fine in the morning and after some driving..it suddenly just sound out the alarm.
Remove the SD card and slot it in my laptop..was surprise that all the information gone..no video ..only the dat files.
Tried to format ..windows give error.
So guys, just take note..get a spare or two SD card in your car..

U have to tap the correct fuse.
Pls kindly pay Elebest a visit. I'm driving F30 and my recorder is able to run 24/7. I added a switch to off it so i can off when not needed.
